There is a proper tightening sequence for the valve cover bolts. I've
found it extremely helpful to put a bead of RTV on the valve cover
gasket to help ensure a solid seal. I've had problems with the aluminum
threads in the head stripping out before reaching torque spec. You can use longer bolts in some of the holes on the head if you have stripping problems.
You should also wait 12 hours before starting the car, as you want the seal to take.
No torque specs. Don't use sealer, that can cause the gasket to slip. Put cover in place, start all bolts, loosely snug all, hand tighten from bottom two, top two, bottom ends, top ends. Warm up motor and re-tighten (good hand snug) do not over tighten.
All you have to do is get a 3/8 ratchet or a wrench and just snug the bolts up to about 10 ft.lbs.of torque then go back and do all the bolts again to about 15 ft.lbs. of torque and you should be good to go.Basically 15ft.lbs. is just using one hand and snug it down with light pull of ratchet.
