You may not need a new ignition. Take the bike to a locksmith where they should have a broken key extractor tool, and then have them cut a new key from the broken piece of the key. It should not be too difficult for them.

Ignition turns but bike dont start

I read your problem as bike turns over on starter but won't fire up. Check all fuses first, check the fuel if it is old get new fuel. Did the problem suddenly happen or has the bike been standing for a while.

Have you checked the kill switch is set to the run position. Has the fuel gone onto reserve. Try opening the filler cap and leave it open while trying to start. Do you need to pull in the clutch lever to start the bike, my Suzi SV will crank over but only starts when the clutch lever is pulled in. Do you have alarm fitted if so it may have disabled the ignition. If your ignition key has an electronic chip fitted this may be the cause of your problem. If normal ignition/key are fitted has the switch got any thing inside it i.e. water that has shorted it out. Spray switch through key slot with WD 40 or similar. Try removing 1 spark plug cap fit an a spare spark plug into the cap and lay it on the engine. Does it spark when the engine turns over. If so possible a fuel problem.

Replace ignition cylinder

The key has to be in the switch, battery unhooked, turn key to start position, insert probe into small hole above cylinder to trip the wedge, and pull out.

In older cars, the natural wear and tear on a vehicle can lead to ignition switch failure. If the switch is failing, you will probably not hear any clicks from the main relay, which fires the ignition. Check the behavior of the dashboard lights if your vehicle stalls. Alternatively, when the key is first turned to position two, the oil light, brake light, charge light and other warning lights will not function. You can try a test to check the integrity of the ignition switch by turning the ignition key to the 'start' position. As soon as it tries to start let go of the key. Allow it to snap back to the 'run' position and note warning lights. If they go out as the switch snaps back then the switch is faulty. if faulty it will not let power through to the starter to start car. check all fuses first. but sounds like switch.

sounds like a bad key switch. the key needs to go in start car then turn off and be removed. you say the key cannot be removed. Is the key still in there? if so you need a new key lock drum. and/or a new ignition switch behind the actual key lock.the key lock can be removed and the electric switch is down in there. once the key lock is out you can start with a screwdriver. the mew key lock will come with a new key and snaps right in. to remove the old key lock refer to a manual for procedure.
