Question about 2003 Suzuki RM 250

RM250 Power Issues

I have a 2003 RM 250, recently put a new Wiseco Piston in at Suzuki. When the bike idles the revs sound restricted and does not rev correctly, it slowly stalls. When riding and in 1st and i stop it dies. When im riding the power and revs feel stuttery and staggered untill the powerband kicks in, then it seems to be ok and comes alive - but i still get dropped by a WR450 like no tomorrow. but the lower end and mid range power is very rocky. there is no smooth power delivery. the premix is incorrect as well as it sputs oils out the exhaust, but will the premix cause the above?

Hello if your motorcycle is blowing a lot of smoke and oil from the exhaust and running poorly,sounds like you have worn crankshaft bearings or the main seal is bad and sucking transmission oil.

    Another problem could also be the power/exhaust valve. if a stop pin was broken or lost the valve may be stuck open. this gives hardly and power until the powerband where it is meant to be opened up

Rm 250 starting problem

1. Enrichner system plugged, not properly functioning or improperly operated.
2. Fuel overflow.
3. Restricted fuel supply.
4. Gas cap and or fuel tank not venting properly.

It wont start. sometimes it will bump start


when's the last time top end was rebuilt? could be piston rings are worn. also, make sure your power valve is clean.

I'm trying to find out how to set the timing on a 1999 rm250


Stators usually do not move unless someone does it or a engine overhaul. Go to a Suzuki forum (dirt bike) and someone will have the answer. Each bike is different so it might be worth it to get a shop manual. Dirt bike manuals are all not that pricey

I recently bought a suzuki rm 125 and it wont run with out me giving it revs y is this . i cant leave it to tick over because wen i let off the throttle the bike dies????


the idle buddy is too low,on the carb is a screw the ide screw turn it in 1/4 of a turn with the bike running untill it idles the way you want it too and it will idle the pic below ill help ya buddy 34c510c.jpg

Hard to start


dear benny it seems to me the first thing to do is to clean carb. it sounds like the pilot jet is pluged which is the jet that controls 0-1/8 throttle setting. remove pilot jet and soak in carb cleaner use comp air to clean only use visual means to see it is clear hope this helps jim

could be too much 2 stroke oil in your mix or worse case, your piston rings are going.
