Open Question

I have a 1996 Suzuki GSXR 1100w, and when its Hot outside, the Clutch Slips, ( or when the Temperature Gauge runs up close to the Hot ), but at night when its cool outside it runs fine, and dont slip, is this a sign that I need new Clutches, or is there something I can do to pervent this from happening again? the bike has been sitting for two years. Thanks!!!!

SOURCE: 73 charger with 904 tranny. slips in reverse and drive.

did you replace the seals? One way to check the band and clutch movements is to, valve body off, use a variable air gun on different ports to apply them. There is a hole by each servo to check the band. There are holes along the front side of the case where the VB mounts. Two of those will apply the forward and direct clutch. One way to check units without pulling trans out!

SOURCE: clutch slips

Most likely the reason for the slipping when cold is the plates can build up a glaze. Mainly from not being adjusted correctly. First I would make sure the clutch is adjusted correctly, then replace the fluid with either Harley Spot Trans fluid or Golden Spectro Trans fluid for Sportsters trans and big twin primary's.

sounds like worn or broken clutch plates. if your clutch is good, then i just needs adjustment.

Make sure your air filter is clean, check the fuel filter and tank for contaminants.
More off the wall , the rev limiter may be faulty, is it a certain speed or a given rev range that causes the shutdown?
Look at the air filter first!!

Are you sure you've placed the plates the right side in? Has your clutch grip, "dead" route before becomes tight when you grab it?

Hi, Timothy and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
4. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
6. FOB battery low or dead.
7. Faulty ignition switch.
8. Faulty starter button.
9. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
10. Security alarm needs a reset.
11. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.

Specs on how much fork oil is needed for a 1995 gsxr 1100 w

This volume of oil is shown in the service manual, on one of its specifications pages. If you are going to work on your cycle, you need to get a service manual.

For a bike of this age, there should be a free download of the manual. Find it by googling "service manual download Suzuki 1995 GSX-R 1100w."

Following this advice, I found this link to a free download; After downloading the manual I found the fork oil capacity on page 1-11, 425 ml.

However, I think you will want to know how to get the oil in and out of the forks as well. This info is found on pages 7-22 to 7-29.

    Enjoy the experience.

GSXR 750 wp 1994 Judders at pulling off

There could be several reasons for this, firstly try changing you oil and filter and see if it improves. If it does then it is possible a problem with the friction plates being glazed or bent slightly. Check to see if the clutch slips. Also check other things like chain tension and sprocket wear. Whilst your there check the cussion drive rubbers for wear and loosness.

Make sure the cable didn't slip out of it's detent. If it isn't placed exactly where it should be, you gon't get proper tension on the clutch plate.
