2. Loose float bowl screws.
3. Damaged float bowl o-ring.

I have a 1991 snowmobile Polaris 650 triple with a rebuilt top and bottom motor was running great shut it off, the next day went to start it wouldn't start pulled the three plugs. They were wet. I went...

Hi Bryan:
The only way that gas can get from the fule tank to the internals of the engine is through the carb. Depending on what slope you parked it on, the fuel tank must have been higher than the Carb, and, the float valve (or equivalent) in the carb is letting the gas flow through into the intake manifolds. At any given time, at least one intake valve would be open so the fuel would enter the cylinder and leak past the rings into the bottom end. Trying to start it in this super flooded condition would account for all plugs being wet.
Attack the carb(s) and you should find the problem.
Will hope for a fast fix and lots more snow for you.

Why doi have to drain gas every time i try to start pressure washer . can run it for 3 hours and 2-3 days later its the same thing all over. drain gas from carb bowl then 30 minutes to startit

sounds like the float and needle are allowing fuel to continually leak into engine causing it to flood out. That's why you have to drain the fuel from carb BEFORE you can attempt to start it. that way there is no ADDITIONAL fuel entering the engine while you try to start it. and once it starts, the engine is then "cleaned out" and you can add fuel again.
The "fix" is to adjust the needle and float or rebuild/replace the carb.

The oil drained from 16.5 craftsman tractor with a kohler engine was about 1/2 gal and smelled of gas the person I got from said unit wouldn't start any ideas?

If the machine's fuel tank is located ABOVE the level of the engine's carburettor then it is most likely a "Gravity Feed" fuel supply system .. i.e. no fuel pump reqd.
If that's the case then the carb has 'flooded' at some stage (most likely when engine was not running), and the fuel has simply flowed down thru the carb and into the intake tract, and then down into the sump via the crankcase breather tube. This is extremely common on "low end" brands which, for reasons of economy, are not equipped with low-mounted fuel tanks and fuel pumps.
The reason that the carb has flooded is usually caused by a leaking Needle & Seat (aka Float Valve) in the carb, which could simply be caused by a bit of debris stopping the inlet needle from seating, OR, the Inlet needle may need replacing.

The reason why the engine wouldn't start is simply that it was flooded ... just like cars used to do back before EFI. Drain the crankcase and re-fill with oil, remove the spark plug and let engine dry out overnight, fit a new dry plug, put throttle lever at about 1/4 open, and crank the engine (OUTDOORS!) till it starts. May take a while to fire up, and may be a bit smoky for a while, but it should go.
My advice ... NEVER buy a lawn tractor with a gravity feed fuel system. There should be laws against them.

Had a flat battery, tried to push start for a while but did not start.replaced battery, now fuel seems to leak from air filter body when try to start, still no go. is this flooded and how to unflood?

definately flooded
not sure of your model but if it has a vacumn fuel tap there is no OFF position
you need to drain the carb bowls with the small drain screws at the bottom, and make certain the air filter element is not full of fuel, and check the oil is not overfull due to fuel contamination.then try and start with full throttle. Do not run the bike with fuel tap in PRI position or it may flood again

If it has an off position on fuel tap
check air filter
check oil
turn fuel off
start with full throttle
turn fuel on

Fuel leak on Polaris 325 trail boss it is leaking out of the bottom of the carburetor.

if it is leaking from one of the drain tubes coming from the carb it could very will be the float is stuck or the needle on your float is not seating correctly and is causing it to flood the carb and leak out the overflow tube(s)

Sounds like something is caught in th drain pump as the unit has to drain first before anything else happens. Remove the filter and the non return valve which is under the clip in the sump of the unit. In the manual it shows you this. Make sure the drain pump is free of any foreign particles like broken glass. Then start the unit again so it goes to drain without the non return valve in place. This will then throw out any foreign particles as well.

or it could be the drain pump is activated all the time which is the noise you hear as there is a flood in the base of the unit which activates the float switch and constantly activates the drain pump until the water has gone. Isolate the unit at the power switch and remove the bottom panel under the door panel. Dry up the water as best possible with a towel. You will see the float at the front. Run the unit again and check for any water leaks. You may just have over sudded the unit with too much detergent. Only use 2 teaspoons of powder. To start with while testing don't use any detergent. Good luck

Snowmobile problem

hi jay,,if u r having to use the choke to keep it go ideling , then either u the idel jet is blocked and will give u fuel starvation ,so usin the choke the main jet has to force fuel in 2 the float chambers,, at the bottom of the carb,, so firstly remove bottoms of carbs and one jet at time take the needle jet and main out , u will see little holes on the needle jet.or needle guide jet if u like, poke a pin in the holes ,and blow threw till u see light threw them, give every thing in the bottom carb a clean while u r there, then replace that jet and everything else ,,then move to the next carb and repeat the process,,put carbs back on the bike, then air boxmake sure theres no air leaks between air box and carbs ,, try that matey,, hope it helped,,
