Turn it on, get up past 40 and in 3rd gear or higher and then press set.

SOURCE: How do you set the cruise control on my 2008 Road

You should have a cruise on and off switch on your dash unit, turn this on. a Red cruise indicator should come on on the tach or speedo. On the right hand set of controls you should have a set/resume rocker switch, Get the bike to the desired speed and push to the set, if you have done this correctly the small cruise indicator should come up Green on your tach or speedo. If you apply the brakes cruise will come off and the indicator will become red again. Get the bike up to speed and hit resume to return to desired speed.
To alter speed while underway, the set / resume button also double as the accelerate / coast button. if you wist to increase your cruise speed move the button to the ACC position until the desired speed is acheived, same for reducing cruising speed, hold to the coast position until desired speed is met then release button.

I don't believe the cruise will lock in if you are below 60kmph or 35mph, as it is meant for highway use.

SOURCE: I know how to set

You answered your own question. Its technically not supposed to be used as a "cruise control". Its primary function was/is to hold a steady idle speed during "warm-up". It is simply a manual screw in = "on" and screw out/release the tension for "off".

The wind affects the front brake on my harley 2006 road king. At speeds 70 and above, when I set the cruise, the wind causes the hand braketo move and disengage the cruise. there is a little slack on...

Loosen the two bolts that holds the front brake master cylinder on the handlebars. Slide the master cylinder as close to the right handlebar switch housing as possible and retighten the bolts. If that doesn't work, you may have to purchase a new lever and pivot pin.

Good luck

Cannot set the cruise. It will turn on, but will not set.

Check to make sure the cable that connects to the throttle body for the cruise control is connected.

How do you set the cruise control on my 2008 Road King Classic, FLHRCI. I bought the bike, no manual... Thank-you

Luckily, I have a 2008 Road King Classic (FLHRC) WITH a manual!

On the left handlebar switch housing there is a lever below the left turn signal button.
It should be flipped to the right for the cruise control to be on, left is off.

On the right switch housing, is a similar lever, below the right turn signal button.

When you're above the minimum speed (I do not know what this is, but 30 MPH is not fast enough for it to engage), push the lever to the right (towards the grip end). This will "SET" the speed.
If you hit the brakes, or accelerate above a certain rate, the cruise will kick off.
To get back to the set speed, when you're above the minimum speed, flip lever to the left to resume.

When the speed is set and engaged, to increase the set speed, flip right lever to the right, to slow, flip to the left.
