Give your bike a tune up, Plugs , Air filter, clean the carbs. Do these jobs one at a time till the problem goes away, Dirty fuel from leaving the bike unused can also give grief.
Happy hunting

Reasons for cylinder misfires

Ford coil on plug systems are multi strike ignition (spark) under 1300 rpm then go to single strike a single cylinder misfire can be created by several things . #1 Test engine compression on a cranking engine compression it should be around 150 lbs but if gauge reads different COMPARE to other cylinders that work fine #2 check engine running compression this will be around 120 lbs then rev over 2000 rpm and check pressure drop again COMPARE to other cylinders that work fine. any drop would indicate valve train problems. #3 All internal engine is fine then external problems are present vacuum leaks and or fuel injection volume is low.

P38 misfires and pops when hot

it is possible that you have access carbon buildup around your valves or on top of the Pistons that gets hot and on cruise causes the engine to misfire. It is also possible that you have some water in the mix that is forced through under normal conditions that under cruise conditions is causing problems also.

My 1996 mercury 9.9 miss firers under load

The most common cause of any ignition misfire (which i think is what you have here) under a load is that the plug wires/and or plug wire boots are defective and shorting to the engine case or that you have a cracked spark plug insulator. If the plug wires are the cause you can spray water on them while the engine is running and the misfire should occur. This method is not fool proof but works well in may cases.

My 88 cherokee has a miss at around 40 mph. any solutions?

Check for a shorting spark plug wire when the engine is under load. Get a spray bottle of water, and mist some water on the plug wires from the dist. cap to the spark plugs. Rev the engine, and you might see a blue spark shorting to the outside of the spark plug or to the cylinder head. If that checks out, check under the dist. cap for any oxidation on the contacts, or hairline cracks in the cap. Any of these things will give you a misfire under load.

My fzr genises misfires at 4000 to 5000 then wont rev past

Have you checked if the EXUP valve is working? It should cycle when you turn the ignition on.
If it's stuck in the closed position it will be choking the engine in the way you describe
