New spark plugs turn black after going twenty miles

I have a 1995 triumph sprint. It has just over 6000 miles on it. I put new spark plugs in it and then ride it about twenty or thirty miles and then it starts running realy rough . the place it runs rough is below 2000 rpm. I can get on the freeway and run 90 miles per hour and no problem. I get off the freeway and into stop and go traffic and every time I hit the throttle below 2000 rpm it splutters and then smooths out when you get above 2000 rpm. when I take the plugs out after only a few miles of this behavior they are black again. I have recently cleaned the carbs and synchronized them. The machine is running an aftermarket exauhst three into two configuration. This was installed before I purchased the machine not sure if jets have been changed.

Hi
Make sure the air filter is clean (& not over oiled if sponge type)
Make sure that the pilot screws on #1 & #3 are 2 turns out and #2 is 2.25 turns out
Try turning 1/8 of a turn at a time
Also change to a softer plug - NGK DPR7EA-9 or equivalent as these stay hotter to burn more carbon off

2011 Triumph Sprint GT high idle

Hey Graham..
Have you had it tuned up lately...if you had the valves adjusted, the intake valves are too tight...if no one has been adjusting your valves.. you might have an air leak..??
Does the engine rpm's "kinda float" around for a few seconds..idling high then settle back to normal..? .. YES. then its a classic symptoms of too tight intake valves.

Triumph sprint st 1995 wont idle, getting good spark, inside of tank painted brown! is this common? problem started with just riding along and the engine would stop, wait a few minutes start and off you...

Try changing your spark plugs, I have recently had a similar problem with a CBR900, spark plugs seemed to be fine (held against frame outside of engine) but didn't actually work under compression, changed for new and bike now runs like a dream.

Wont fire

You have to check of there is sparks at the spark plug and also if the fuel is being injected to the combustion chamber.
Crank start the engine for a short while and thn remove one spark plug, if fuel is injected you will see tht the plug is wet.
To check for sparks to the plug, wipe tht plug dry if its wet due to gas, thn earth the spark plug body to the engine and crank start, if theres sparks you will see.
If you both of these thn it the engine must fire.
I guess one is missing.
Hope this helps!

Engine does not start

JUST A SHOT IN THE DARK ON THIS.

TRY DISCONECTING THE POSITIVE POWER CABLE ON YOUR BATTERY,AND WAIT TEN OR TWENTY MIN.THEN PUT THE POSITTIVE BACK ON IT.

SEE IF THAT WILL RESET IT.

HOPE THIS HELPS
