Question about kawasaki KLX 250 Motorcycles

1 Answer

Just curios, as this bike has electric devices, ECU, CDI, would it be safe for these devices if we cross the river with water level just about below the exhaust, or even worse if we bump into it

Good question. Crossing any body of water is risky because the engine could cut out. Water up the exhaust is a common cause of stalling but as long as you keep the rpm's up pretty high the exhaust gas will blow out any water. You will not get shocked so no worries there. The only concerns other than safety are to make sure you keep the crankcase vent above the water and don't get water into the engine and contaminate the oil. Major point number two here is KEEP THE AIR FILTER DRY!!!. Carry a spare in a zip[lock bag just in case you drop the bike or swamp the motor. If you do swamp the motor simply remove the spark plug, drain the oil from the motor and drain the carburetor bowl. With the spark plug, oil drain plug out and the carb bowl drain screw cracked open you should use the start button to spin the motor and that should dry things out nicely. Replace the spark plug, oil drain plug, close the carb drain screw and refill the engine oil. By the way make sure the spark plug is not wet when you reinstall it and make sure the air filter is dry. One that stuff is done the engine should start and run fine. Of course there are varying degrees of necessity here depending on how deep the motor went into the water. Often a dry air filter and clean spark plug are sufficient. Don't worry about electric shock though you should unplug any wet connectors and dry out the contacts with silicone spray and put dielectric grease on them before reconnecting and do this as soon as is convenient for you after the ride or as a preventive measure against short circuits and corrosion.

Hey. I have juat bought a kawa zx9r. But the guy said he fitted an.other cdi so the rev counter dont work.. how do i fix it? Do i hve to replace the cdi to its original.one? Then the bike will be slower

Why do you think the bike would be slower? a cdi is mearly a box that regulates ignition pulses. There is no power to be generated here, unless you're flashing your ecu and re-mapping yout ignition table. Just run the original CDI. It's easier and cheaper to make yourself faster than your bike faster.

I cleaned the Carbs and bike runs great at lower speeds but once I get over 55mph and try to open it up it runs very slugish. As if the carbs are dirty...

Fuel tank lines and filter may need cleaning in adition to air filter. check for vacuum lines sucking air.The clamps that hold your carbs and rubber boots may not be on right, proper alignment for carbs( level to ground not twisted to left or right) make sure fuel cut off is in run.

2004 yz25f overheating almost instantly after starting

Overheating is means to be over of heat, isnt it?now, how can you say that with in two mins, that early duration of time the ingine will overheat? The probable cause is not on the carburator but in the CDI ( if it is CDI operated).but if it is contact point it is surely the condenser.
The CDI is a compact system of and electronic device or a form of integrated circuit that is have the risk of malfunctioning when it can sense a high temperature produced by electricity...same with the condenser.,thats why when the motorcycle is working there is a sudden stop when the said electronice devices have malfunctioned.
so,if thats the problem, replace the CDI or the CONDENSER.

Can I start a R6 R 2006 with my key but with other CDI

No you cannot. Each ECU has it's own immobilizer unit and therefor it's own keys.If you try to do that the ECU will lock 'cause it assumes that someone is trying to steal the bike.

Gilera runner stolen, changed barrel/immobiliser, no spark

You definitely need to change all with a kit of : ECU, engine main switch, seat lock and you will get in the kit 3 new keys, 2 black and 1 red.The black ones need to be programmed from the red one at a dealer's workshop. Then store the red some place safe.
