Question about 2008 KTM 250 EXC
Thanks for the additional info. To check if it's the tranny or crank bearings, did you try shifting through the gears? With it not running, you should be able to shift through all of the gears. If you can't, you may have blown a gear in the tranny and not the crank bearings. If the tranny is ok, then I suspect you are correct that it's the lower end and needs to be pulled apart. If you pulled the top end off, it sounds like you have some mechanical skills. Pull the intake, cylinder, etc. (Grab a $25 repair manual if you've never done it and don't want to try on your own without instruction) and you can probably get through pulling it apart and save a ton of $$ on labor. Then take the lower end in to a shop and have them replace the bearings. If you don't have a place locally that you can get a manual from, here are the ones I go to locally here in Minnesota.
