Question about 1979 Harley Davidson XLH 1000 Sportster

Piston pin retaining ring removel ,mine are not ones that can be taken off with p/n no. HD-96215-49 small internal lock ring pliers. They look like those rings that you would use for keys. thank you

Use a small flat blade screwdriver some times you need 2 there is a *** on he end of the clip. pry it out and pull the end with a pair of needle nose pliers you ARE going to ruin the clip DO NOT reuse. It will take a few time to get the end to pop out you my even use the lock ring pliers to walk it out after you get the tip out. They er a pain in the ****. I can be done you have to be patient.

NEED DIAGRAM FOR LOCATIONS OF CRANKSHAFT PULLY,OIL SLINGER AND SPRING.FOR 1983 MAZDA 2.2L DIESEL


Here is the procedure:-


  1. Remove setscrew from side of cylinder block.


  2. Remove oil pipe attaching bolts.


  3. Remove oil pump and strainer.
TIMING GEAR COVER



  1. Remove timing gear cover to case attaching bolts.


  2. Remove timing gear cover and gasket.

CAMSHAFT, CRANKSHAFT, IDLER & INJECTION PUMP GEARS



  1. Remove oil slinger and washers from crankshaft snout.
Using puller set 49 0839 425C or equivalent, remove crankshaft timing gear, Fig. 3.


  1. Position a clean rag between camshaft and idler gears, then remove cam gear lock bolt and washers.


  2. Using puller set 49 0839 425C or equivalent, remove cam gear from camshaft, Fig. 3.


  3. Remove idler gear to spindle retaining nuts and washers, then remove idler gear and spindle assemblies.


  4. Remove injection pump drive gear.


  5. Remove timing gear case to cylinder block attaching bolts, then the timing case.



CAMSHAFT




  1. Remove tappets from cylinder block.


  2. Remove camshaft thrust plate to cylinder block retaining bolts and washers, then pull camshaft from block.



PISTON & CONNECTING ROD




  1. Remove connecting rod bearing cap retaining nuts and bolts, then separate bearing cap from connecting rod.


  2. Using the wooden handle end of a hammer, push the piston and connecting rod assembly outward until piston rings clear cylinder bore. Remove piston and connecting rod assembly through top of cylinder block.


  3. To separate piston from connecting rod, remove piston pin retaining clips, then press pin from piston using a suitable driver.



CRANKSHAFT




  1. Remove rear oil seal cap retaining bolts, then the cap and seal.


  2. Remove main bearing cap to cylinder block retaining bolts, then the main bearing caps and thrust washers.


  3. Lift crankshaft from cylinder block.

How do i remove rear rim from alko ride on lawn mower


I was unable to find your exact mower, however, most rear mower wheels come off as follows: remove the black rubber cap in the center of the wheel hub. A channel lock plier and one of those paint can lid removers generally works well for removing the flexible cap. You should then see a flat metal horse-shoe shaped retaining ring. One should ideally remove that with a pair of hog ring pliers. These pliers have two pins that fit into the holes on the retaining ring and pull them farther apart. However, if you do not have the right tool, you can usually pry a retraining ring off with a couple of flat blade screw drivers. Look to be sure there is no cotter pin that may need removed. To remove a cotter pin, use a pair of pliers and an ice pick or screwdriver. When you take off the wheel, there will be a piece of metal approximately one and half inches by 1/4 inch on the axle that slides into a little groove directly on the axle. Be careful not to lose it. When you put the wheel back on, you will need to slide that pin which I think is called a "key" back through the hub of the wheel. Good luck.

How to get the retaining ring off of the feeder assembly


The rn46 nailer has two retaining rings for the feeder. The snap ring on the very back of the feeder assembly is removed with snap ring pliers or two small pointed tools of your choice. The rear cap will come off with spring pressure so be ready to catch the pieces. You need to remove the nail canister to see the rear snap ring. The feeder pin holding the feeder onto the feeder shaft is just a rubber ring that can be removed by prying behind with flat blade screwdriver. Caution when you remove the feed-pin and move the feeder or you will lose the feed-sping under the feeder , Good luck

What's the best way to removal the circlip to


Not sure what you are calling a "circlip". I have seen three basic ways to hold the front wheel on. The first and most common is the E-clip. The E-clip is removed by inserting a straight blade screwdriver into the gap and rotating to lift it up and then pulling it up. I use a set of channel lock pliers to reinstall the E-clip. The second is an external snap ring. There is tool specifically designed to remove the snap ring, it is called snap ring pliers. If you go looking to get a pair, keep iin mind there are internal and external. Although Channel Lock makes a snap ring plier that can be used for external and internal. I have had a set of these for many years and love them. The third way I have seen is a cotter pin. Cotter pins are removed with pliers.

What is the special tool called for removing the ring so i can take that plate off to get at the screw that hold my ignition switch on my 1990 gmc 1500


You will require a steering column lock-plate tool to compress the spring-loaded lock-plate and then you can remove the lock-plate securing ring using either snap-ring/e-ring pliers or by using two small screwdrivers to pry the lock-plate securing ring off of the steering shaft. Here are some images to assist you, and at most auto part stores you can purchase a lock-plate tool or rent one, and some will even loan them to you if you have purchased a part from them, and also note in the image that the lock-plate securing ring is being removed using a screwdriver if the proper snap-ring pliers can not be obtained. It might also be necessary to remove the screws securing the turn-signal switch and position it out of the way to access the ignition tumbler retaining screw, and let me know if you require any further assistance.

I've taken the spout off and can see the diverter but I can't get it out of there. How do you get it out?


I have a K-R10430. I was having issues with the hand spray - poor water pressure. Kholer sent out a new diverter. After shutting off watner, when you remove the small screw in the back of the Spout, pull the spout off. Put a paper towel into the body to soak up excess water inside body. Then you need a small screw driver or small flat item to fit inside one side of the retaining ring near the opening, there is a space where you can fit something behind and carefully move the retaining ring out. Pull out with needle nose pliers then pull the diverter out with needle nose pliers. Insert new diverter with teeth facing up and push down. Insert retaining ring and make sure it slips into same **** in wall of body.

How do you get the collar off an FXSTS exhaust header pipe


I think what you are talking about are the snap rings that go on the pipes to hold the exhaust flanges onto the pipes. They come off easily but you need the right tool to do it with. They make a tool that is similar to a pair of snap ring pliers with flat lips on them instead of small pins. Mac tools P22A snap ring pliers.

Want to replace broken locking pin


It appears that the retainer is removed from the outside, Go to Dewaltservicenet.com and under manuals type in your model number I used 890 and you can download a breakdown for this tool. Did you remove the motor from the base so you can see it more clearly, the retainer might be an E clip that slides off with a pair of needle nose pliers.

Removing a moen cartridge


Remove the retaining clip and then take a pair of plier or channel locks to grab the stem and work that stem side to side gently as you pull up or out.

Handle on faucet shuts off on its own


I had the same problem. The Price Pfister web site recommends removing the handle (unscrew the dome cap, then remove the phillips screw to get the handle off) then tightening the retaining ring (I used channel lock pliers on largest setting. It worked. However the retaining ring is plastic on some models, and they recommend replacing it with a brass one. I haven't taken that step yet, we'll see how it goes (mine is plastic).
