Question about 2004 Honda CBR 1000 RR Fireblade

1 Answer

2004 Honda CBR 1000RR Stalls

After I ride the bike for a few minutes, at idle (RPM at 1300) jump to 2500 back down and many times will just die. Moreover, the bike can not hold a constant speed (like at 40, or 55). If I try to keep it at one speed, it starts to get jumpy like if not enough fuel is going to the engine. I always have the keep increasing my speed to avoid this.
A few times last year, I was riding around 70MPH, and the bike rpm dropped Immediately to 3000RPM and the right light when on. I pulled over, and turned off the bike. Immediately turned it back on, and the problem when away for a little while.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I took it to the dealer, and they were not able to reproduce it. However, I can and dealer is not helpful

Does anyone have a service manual for a 2004 cbr 1000rr fireblade

Hi, Allen the vast majority of service, parts, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee around $10 and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available, for these rare occasions I shall look on eBay and find the cheapest one available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. My bike has been shutting off while riding, sometimes when I pull in the clutch and it goes back down to idle my biike will just shut off, I replaced the battery already but no luck, and it idles at around...

This does sound like an electrical problem but it is hard to say if it is the alternator itself that is causing this.
I would look into having it tested and if it isn't the problem then it could be one of your relays.
A few things to the battery still charged when the bike dies, if so the alternator will likely be ok......check all cables and wires (especially the ground) to be sure of tight clean connections.
Try those things and see if it helps

I have a 2004 CBR600RR, just had the rectifyer replaced, garage has fitted an SP1/2 rectifyer as they say its more reliable. At speed the bike runs fine but if you let it idle for a few minutes and then...

Hi,,,yes i would fit new plugs,,with all the missfires before you replaced the reg/rec you are sure to have some fouled plugs,

i have experienced this many times, fit some new plugs.

My cbr 600 f2 1993 had been sitting for a long time

Sounds like the carbs were not properly cleaned or set up. Choke should cause the cold start rpms to be higher than what you are experiencing. Application of choke to a warmed up engine will usually cause the engine to stall.

Honda cbr 2004 my bikes stalls an wen i come to a complete stop it turns off

To clarify.... Have you had it on a trickle charge? Do you ride it all the time? Alarm? Sounds to me (with out being there) like a common problem....But I would need to hear it. Does it run sluggish just before it stalls or dies? If yes to most or all of those it may be that your battery isnt hold a charge. You have to run your bike at high RPM for it to properly charge. Just starting it in the garage from time to time dosnt really charge the battery. Take it to autozone and get a good charge on it if you havnt already. It take 3 hours to charge that battery fully. Also another 2 things strike me as well. 1.It could be the tilt sensor isnt operating properly. 2. The kick stand sensor or kick stand loose. I would try those first. Let me know.

horsepower is 178. The US spec version of the 2008 1000RR has a limitation above 10,200 rpm that reduces rear wheel horsepower to approximately 155. The UK version of the motorcycle makes about 10 more horsepower with a normal curve above 10,200 rpm as opposed to the US version which is essentially flat from 10,200 rpm to 13,000 rpm.
