As with most engines, just enough choke to get it running ,then idearly let it idle to get oil flowing nicesy as cold oil takes a bit to get around the engine properly

KTM 950 sm won't start...starter tries to kick bike over but sounds like it is not getting enough juice...battery terminls and lead wires get very hot....battery is I know that is not the...

The wiring should not be getting hot, but if you are trying to get the engine running with the starter motor and it is not turning the engine over, you need to investigate why the engine is not turning. Put the shifter in top gear and try to push the bike (key off) to see if the engine is free to turn. If ok, remove the starter motor and check the drive to the engine. It may be a broken chain or other interference trouble. Try running the starter with the chain disconnected. If it won't turn (make sure the body of the motor is touching the engine), the motor may be jammed in some way. The other possibility is that the wiring to the starter is grounding out somewhere--maybe the starter solenoid. Hope this helps!

your dealership is operated by a bunch of monkeys and baboons! any competant mechanic could fix this, but must be human, not monkey. you can try to get them to pay for a competant mechanic to fix this, as they are not capable. or take it to the next nearest dealership, no matter how far away. sorry bro, this sucks big time.
