SOURCE: suzuki gsxr750 slingshot 89 K just overhauled

You should be able to drill out the A/F caps on the mixture screws if they are still in place. It sounds like you still have a blocked pilot jet circuit though if it runs well at higher revs when the main jet takes over.

Why is my atv Honda fourtrax 350 backfireing

it sounds like its starving for fuel, when it runs lean you will get backfires and if its running rough then it may be starving for fuel at idle. Try adjusting you mixture screw and see it the engine will smoot out. Your carb my be dirty and not allowing enough fuel through it.

Sportster 1200 cc 2003 a/f adjustment

If motorcycle has set for more than 6 month with the new reformulated fuel, the carbs are probably plugged up and need cleaning. Also check for any broken, open, or otherwise damaged vacuum lines as they will also make it pop and spit. The inlet spigots that connect the carbs to the head also may be leaking and will case the same type of problems.

I have a 78 honda it has been sitting, won't idle

The stock pilot screw setting is one and one half turns. The usual problem for not idling is that the slow speed circuits in the carbs are still plugged up. Secondary cause is usually that the carbs are not in sync > The carb slides don't all move upward at exactly the same moment. If you haven't installed new spark plugs, do it. Soak the carbs in denatured alcohol after removing the slides and float bowls. Finish with spray carb cleaner and compressed air. Spray into all the drill holes, ( circuits ), in each carb. Install an in-line fuel filter to prevent trash from the gas tank getting into the carbs.

Idle adjustment on 1970 honda 750 four

the cb 400 has 4 carbs if its ticking over badly and "hunting" then the carbs need to be tuned first to do this you need the right tool you just cant do it by ear as its done on vacuum?? after that its an easy job to set it up, if its out of tune even just a little bit it well run like a dog with big flat spots in its throtel

Need spark plug gap. and carb setting

gap should be about .020 - Carb setting is adjusted while running - lo idle and hi - lo idle adjusted to the lowest RPM before it stalls or starts running rough, the hi is adjusted at full throttle for the smoothest / highest rpm

89 accord always idles at 3000rpm

Either the carb is misadjusted, or you have a vacuum leak somewhere letting in unmetered air.

Carbs cleaned but bike will not idle properly

The pilot jet controls the idle. Check your service manual for the jet location. Chances are the jet is plugged up by varnish. Count the number of turns as you turn the adjuster screw INWARD until it LIGHTLY seats. Now remove the adjuster screw. Clean the jet and then put the adjuster screw in and LIGHTLY seat it. Turn the adjuster out the same number of turns as originally counted. Don't seat the screw too tight because you can screw up the jet if you do. Remove the actual jet only if you must.
