Push statrer button and nothing happens

2001 Yamaha Roadstar1600. I have to push the starter button several times (nothing happens, not a sound) until finally it works and turns over just fine. Battery is new and fully charged. Maybe a bad switch?

Sounds like too much oil! Yeah it sounds like a switch. You can probably get that thing apart and see what's happening. Have you ridden in the rain lately or trailered it through heave rain? I trailered my Ducati through some heavy rain in North Carolina and washed all the grease out of the throttle, wouldn't even turn. I have a feeling, you have corroded the connection some how, check it out.

It sounds like you may have a bad "Starter Clutch." This is not cheap to replace, so I hope I'm wrong. B)

I used to have to push the 'start' button several times to get it to start the wash cycle, now...nothing happens at all? any ideas?

Sounds like your control panel is going out on you. It is not communicating at 100% to the rest of the unit. Contact your manufacturer and one of their service companies.

The chainbrake should be activated when starting the chain saw. Activate the chain brakeby pushing the front hand guard forwards.b>Cold engine Start position, 1: Set the start/stop switch in the choke position by pulling thered control outward - upward.Decompression valve: Press the valve to reduce the pressure in the cylinder and makestarting easier. Once the machine has started the valve will automaticallyreturn to its original setting.Air purge: Press the air purge diaphragm repeatedly until fuel fills thediaphragm (at least 6 times). The diaphragm need not be completely filled.Grip the front handle with yourleft hand. Hold the chain saw on the ground by placing your right foot throughthe rear handle.Pull the starter handle, 4: Pull the starter handle with your right hand and pull out thestarter cord slowly until you feel a resistance (as the starter pawls engage)then pull firmly and rapidly until the engine fires.Push down the red choke control: As soon as the engine fires which can be heard through a"puff" sound, push down on the red choke control.Pull the starter handle (6): Keep on pulling the cord powerfully until the engine starts.

My 2001 Yamaha R1 has an issue. I put the key in and turn it on, everything lights up fine, but when I press the start button nothing happens.

If you push the starter button and hear a click the starter button is good. If you do not hear a click, put power to the two skinny solenoid activation wires(+ and -), if you hear a click now you have a bad starter button. Clean or replace the switch. Follow the positive battery cable to the solenoid, short across the battery power cable and the starter power cable. If the starter works you need a new solenoid. If you tap on the starter with a plastic hammer while holding the starter button, and it works, you need new starter brushes. If you take the starter apart and the coils are burnt or the armature is shorted you need a new starter.

You checked the solenoid? (ont post hot all the time - the other post only hot when you press the start switch) Check the low volt wires from battery to solenoid and solenoid to switch and from switch to ground.

I think you will find your trouble.

Please let me know what happens.

Yamaha big bear 400 will not start wilth electric started will start fine with pull start has comp, fuel and spark

Sounds like a problem with the starter, could be a starter fuse, relay or solenoid. The start cicuit wiring could also be damaged. If you can pull-start the motor, and it runs fine, you have pretty much eliminated any problems with the motor. Check the wires running from the start button make sure they are intact, also trace them and look for around a 1" cubed black box. This is the relay, when you push the button, if its working, you will feel the box click. Also locate the starter and do the same thing. If you feel or hear the starter click, the solenoid is working. The battery voltage could also be too low to energize the starter motor. Could also be a battery or alternator issue. Check the battery voltage and for any sounds coming from the bike when you push the start button.
