Just installed a 30,000 btu Mr Heater blue flame heater last night, worked perfectly. This morning the flames and pilot light are burning mostly orange. What could be causing this.

That is a bad air/fuel mix... could be anything like clogged orifice or just needs to be adjusted.

Check out your warranty support first... and keep in mind poorly burning gas appliance can be EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

Consider putting in carbon gas detectors in addition to a liberal sprinkling of smoke detectors!!

Be safe

Turned on my amp today and began to hum and smoke what's wrong with it. I have tested the speaker on another and they are fine.

Your amplifier died a noble ***** and almost went up in flames. Some discrete component burned up and let you know about it.

Possible electrical problem?

Diagnosing something from a description is far from an exact science, but this is what it sounds like to me may have happened. If your battery was not tie down it could have gotten against something hot or moving (like a pulley), or what ever was rattling may have created a spark somehow and caused the battery to exploded, either way the battery fluid spashing onto hot metal could explain the cloud of white smoke, as you did not mention seeing any flames.

I HAVE A DEN HAAN TRAWLER OIL LAMP. AM USING NON-DYED KEROSENE FROM A SERVICE STATION PUMP. HAVE TRIMMED THE WICK. WHEN LAMP GETS THE TULIP SHAPED FLAME IT IS A DULL YELLOW COLOR AND SMOKES ALOT. ANY...

You are using the wrong fuel! Center Draft lamps should use either "Low Odor Mineral Spirits" or "Kleen Heat" only. It will not smoke if the wick is level and the flame spreader is in place with the correct chimney. If you purchased it from Leihman's, ignore their recommendation for Kerosene. From experience I have found Center Draft's to smoke on Kerosene and not on Kleen Heat.

Just installed a vulcan oil heater, but when you start it up it will only burn yellow flames and keeps going out and will smoke, then relight with a bang,

Sounds like you may have the wrong size tip on your oil burner. A yellow flame indicates too much fuel not enough oxygen.

HELLO. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME GRILLING ON MY OWN. MY QUESTION IS BY THIS GRILL NOT HAVING A LID WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO COOK W/O HAVING TOO MUCH SMOKE. B/C I SATY IN AN APARTMENT COMPLEX IM CONCERNED ABOUT...

The best way to cook on a BQ and have min smoke is to put tin foil on the grill with only a couple holes punched it for fat to drain, and don't let flames flair up, use water botttle near by to squirt coals if flames appear and spray some to put out flame. What causes smoke is the fat and juices from the meats hitting flames, this method cuts 90 percent of that.

I have a 03 wr 250, it idles ok but backfires and throws small flames from ex when throttle is opened fast, but not opened slowly,

Nothing wrong with a bit of overfueling, the flames are a bit of a worry though. If the ignition timing is too far retarded, the mixture will still be burning when it leaves the chamber. Also if the spark plug is gummed up, that may cause a problem of miss firing causing flames in the exhaust pipe.

Starts runs for a minute two the shuts down and blowes smoke

jerome kr406,

This is a classic problem with the reddy heaters. They have a filter which over time plugs up. This causes the air/fuel mixture ratio to change because the pump pressure is determined by the air bleed. As the filter plugs the air pressure drops and the fuel also drops meaning the burner is running lean. This eventually causes the unit to shut down and as you said smoke comes out. It is a fairly easy fix and I have a tip which will walk you through it at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4124129-yearly_maintenance_reddy_heaters . My tip will link you to the place to get the parts you need as well as how to perform the additional maintenance that these heaters require.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the excellent rating. Great ratings help to keep experts helping everyone solve their problems. Thank you.

My Dyna GLo kerosene heater has excessive smoke and yellow flame

I'm wondering the same
Should a duraheat, etc., cylindrical convetion heater's flame be bright yellow, blue , or what? With the old wick the flame was blue, with the catalytic converter glowing red hot. Now with the new wick, I can't even see the CC, because the flame burns a bright yellow. Also I have to really fine tune it now. A wee bit too high, I get smoke and soot. A wee bit too low, same...smoke and possibly flame out.
