Installing rubber grommets on hard bags. - 2008 Harley Davidson FLHX Street Glide

I am assuming this is a diesel. The diesel engine covers were extremely hard to remove. They are held on by rubber grommets and these grommets tend to dry out and then get stuck. I have broken many of these covers. VW is aware this is an issue, but does not want to do anything to fix it

It's strapped under the fender and has a rubber grommet that goes thru and seals at firewall. Follow all the way back and disconnect as you have to to get it out.

1. choke circuits still plugged up or carbs not cleaned correctly; most people that attempt to clean their own carbs do not have the proper equipment to do it with. Most carbs have really small orifice(jets) and require really small jet drills/orifice cleaners to clear them out. Cleaning them in a caustic soak tank will clean them out but the carbs must be taken completely apart or it will damage any gaskets or rubbers parts left in it. Carb cleaning should be left to professionals unless one has experience doing it.

2. Open/broken vacuum lines can make it hard to start and backfire when letting off the throttle; jets that are not cleaned out correctly can also make it backfire.

3. If the backside of the inlet grommets are not sealed at the flange and have a vacuum leak, that will cause hard starting and backfire also; this applies to carbs with a flange style grommet. If the intake grommets are cracked or leaking it too will cause hard starting and backfire. Remove the carbs, wipe the head and mating flange surfaces with laquer thinner, let it dry and then reseal the grommets back to the head with rtv silicone rubber. Make sure to wipe any excess rtv(before it drys) from down inside the port before putting the carbs back on.

Do you have a manual or automatic transmission as there is a rubber grommet that would normally be used for the clutch cable to go through........but if you have an automatic then this would be the ideal location to put wiring through as no hole would have to be drilled in the firewall, and you could make a **** in the existing rubber grommet and silastic where the wires go through to ensure an air tight condition..hope this helps. !!!!!!!!!!

It seems I'm the only Sebo expert contributing to this site at the moment, and I'll be glad to help you but I need more information. What do you mean by "tripped out"? Do you mean it just stopped working, or what? Do any of the lights come on, or does the machine seem to be completely dead? How old is it (roughly)? What is the condition of the flex (especially where it goes in to the plug, and where it goes in to the rubber grommet on the handle)? Is the rubber grommet damaged at all? Any other damage anywhere?
The answer to your question is "no", there is no internal trip to reset. The machine will only cut out if it gets too hot (because there's a blockage somewhere) and it will reset itself when it cools sufficiently.

It's in the washer fluid reservoir. (Held in by a rubber grommet at the bottom of the reservoir bag) Easiest way to get to the pump is to remove the reservoir. (One bolt)

this is caused by a defective/shorted rotating ribbon contact under the steering wheel called a clock spring, to replace this part u must disarm the airbag remove it and the steering wheel and then replace the clock spring, this is a dealer only part.

If you're talking about the FM antenna in the tour-pak, look inside and you will see a small screw on connector for the coax cable.  unscrew the coax and then pull it free from the wire guides on the floor of the tour-pak.  At the front left corner will be a large round rubber grommet.  Pull the grommet out and feed the wire out of the tour-pak.  The wire can be stowed behind the left side cover panel, where the fuses are.
