Z24 nissan engine 720 kingcab sensor light is on.what sensor?
An orange or yellow light with just the word "sensor"? All '82-'87 models are equipped with a maintenance reminder light for the oxygen sensor. It is just an alert to have the O2 sensor checked. Light is set to come on at 30,000 miles, will need resetting, then will again come on at 60,000 miles, must be reset, will come on at 90,000 miles at which time Nissan says locate and disconnect warning light connector. Be done with it!
There are two methods to turn the light off, depending on model, year, and engine size and calibration. On the earlier systems (without a relay) the connection for the warning light is somewhere around the fuse box-wire colors are different for all models, so I can't help you there-you just disconnect the connector.
Later models may have a sensor relay. Relay is reset by depressing a button on the relay or by inserting a small screwdriver into the reset hole-depending on which kind of relay. Getting confused? Not done yet, so you may just want to find the warning light connector, unplug it and be done with it-you probably have more than 90K anyway, at which time it should be disconnected
But to continue: Now, you have to find the relay for resetting...Good luck on that!...I can tell you, though, that on pulsars and sentras, the relay is located either behind the left kick panel or the right kick panel, can be in either location, depending on model and year. Your pickup, if it has a relay, should have it also behind one of the kick panels.
But if you can find the warning light connector, 2 wires, just disconnect it. It might also be near the hood release handle.
