Question about 2006 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe
There is a clutch basket - can't remember the series number, but I think it may be "E" - that will typically reduce the chirping you're hearing. Many Yamaha dealers have replaced these under warranty.
The chirp is a product of the square-cut gears used in the transmission. They are cut that way to provide more solid contact/meshing, but they can sometimes be noisy. Swapping to synthetic lubricants such as AMSOIL will quiet things down a bit.
I have an '06 RSTD, pearl white, that I've put 42K on. It's a fantastic bike. Just don't ride it like a V-twin. The V-4 wants to rev! So never be afraid to wind 'er up. Think of it as sort of the world's largest sport bike. Oh, you'll probably want to ditch the extremely uncomfortable stock seat for a Mustang or Ultimate seat. The stock seats are the worst on the planet!
