Hello this sounds like you have a transmission problem than a clutch problem.
The cogs on the gear or gears are worn and under load they are pushing out of their locked position.
A slipping clutch will not suddenly engage disengage quickly.

Mulcher repair

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

Clutch

If the chainsaw chain does not engage the clutch assembly might be worn out. The clutch is similar to an automotive clutch. The chain sprocket is attached to the clutch drum and there are clutch pads underneath. As the pads wear out the clutch assembly no longer engages with the motor and the chain does not engage either.

Clutch Band kit

Chainsaws are equipped with a clutch band, a steel band that wraps around the clutch drum and is activated by the emergency stop lever. If the lever does not disengage the chain does not engage. Check to be sure the stop lever is disengaged. Adjust the clutch band if necessary.
Enter your model number to see parts for your chainsaw.

Disengage mulch drive

Have you looked beneath the deck with someone engaging or disengaging the blade lever? Get underneath and observe how the belt travels from the engine pulley back, and follow it in the loop it travels to see how it works with the lever engaged and disengaged.

Blade engagement lever won't disengage

If this is a manual engagment system all the lever does is to pull a jockey wheel into the back of the belt to tention it thus starting the blades to turn, so either the cable is jammed that pulls the jockey wheel in, or the jockey wheel arm is seized and needs freeing off to allow the jockey to to move to the relaxed position.

After replacing the belt, new pulleys, and bolts, my mower wont disengage the blades when i disengage the lever. when i start the mower, the blades are off, but once i engage the lever, they start, but...

sounds like the linkage to your blades, check your lever, to make sure its working right may need some grease, it may be sticking and not fully engaging, or doing its job when its supposed to

Suzuki gsx600f clutch problem

if it is in gear for sure and it doesnt move even with the clutch engaged maybe you are missing a piece inside the clutch like the clutch boss spring. or possibly your plates are worn so much they wont hook up. or you are using a very poor grade of oil. Dont take my absolute word for all these solutions but these may lead to some problems like that.

Craftsman riding mower blades won't disengage

This is too late, but for the next person: There is an extension spring around the cable attached to the blade engage/disengage lever.

On my tractor one end of the spring had the hook broken off or it. Because it is around the cable it is still in place but doesn't stretch when you engage the blade (so can't pull the pulley out and slacken the belt when you disengage).

The replacement is a few dollars and can be bought on ebay or Amazon.

Troy bilt horse pto clutch will not disengage

The problem is lack of lubrication in the pto coupling. Losen the two swing bolts carefuly, block the front under the motor. Separate the tine transmision from the housing and grease both sides with as much grease as you can work in. Work the lever as you do this. Should fix the problem.
