Coolant boiling in resevoir.

It can be faulty coolant temperature sensor. Its not sensing exact coolant heat temperature so its overheating then required level.

-----------

Get the coolant pressure tested, its definitely leaking coolant. You will need to get the coolant running line.

Pressure test will help you to know from where exactly coolant/refrigerant is getting leaked.

How to refill coolant in a jeep cherokee

Remove hose to the thermostat housing, add coolant - as much as possible, replace - then fill the coolant tank with coolant. Run the engine three times, adding coolant to the hot full line after the engine cools. Should draw the coolant in at that time.
If replacing the coolant, replace the thermostat and gasket. Thermostat (192 degree F) and gasket from dealer. Ask for the new Daimler-Benz designed gasket; they will know what you are talking about.
Good Luck...

I replaced my radiator on my 2004 with a 2.2 and it seems like the thermostat is not opening. It can not get the air out. It seem to just to over heat and push the coolant out. Randy

REPLACE THERMOSTAT IF TOP COOLANT COOLANT HOSE GOING TO RADIATOR IS HOT TO TOUCH THERMOSTAT OPEN. TO BLEED COOLANT SYSTEM FIRST YOU NEED TO ADD COOLANT TO THE COOLANT OVER FLOW JUG UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING AND STAY AT FULL COLD MARK.WAIT 3 MINUTES IF COOLANT DROPS ADD MORE COOLANT UNTIL COOLANT STAY AT FULL COLD MARK.WITH RADIATOR OVER CAP OFF CRANK ENGINE FOR MINUTE WATCH COOLANT LEVEL AT OVERFLOW JUG.IF COOLANT DROPS ADD MORE COOLANT IN THE OVERFLOW JUG.WHEN COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING IN OVERFLOW JUG.SCREW BACK ON THE RADIATOR CAP TO OVERFLOW JUG.WHILE ENGINE IDLING WATCH TEMPERATURE GAUGE WHEN TEMPERATURE START CLIMBING TURN OFF ENGINE WAIT A WHILE KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDED.WHEN COOLANT COOL DOWN SOME. PLACE A LARGE RAG OVER THE COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG OPEN CAP LITTLE AT A TIME UNTIL PRESSURE RELEASED, THEN REMOVE CAP ADD MORE COOLANT IN THE OVERFLOW JUG TO THE FULL COLD MARK.THEN REPEAT THE PROCESS SCREW BACK ON THE COOLANT OVERFLOW RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.THEN START ENGINE WATCH TEMPERATURE GAUGE WATCH COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE WHEN COOLANT TEMPERATURE START RISING TURN OFF ENGINE AGAIN WAIT UNTIL ENGINE COOL DOWN ENOUGH TO KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDED TAKE PLACE LARGE RAG OVER RADIATOR CAP WHICH IS THE COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG CAP OPEN CAP LITTLE AT A TIME UNTIL PRESSURE RELEASED ADD COOLANT UNTIL AT FULL COLD MARK. WHEN YOUR COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING.AND TOP RADIATOR HOSE VERY HOT THERMOSTAT OPEN AND AIR IS OUT THE COOLANT SYSTEM. MAKE SURE YOUR COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG HAS COOLANT IN IT,WHEN ENGINE COOL DOWN CHECK COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG KEEP COOLANT LEVEL AT FULL COLD MARK.BECAUSE IF OVERFLOW JUG IS EMPTY THATS A SIGN RADIATOR COOLANT LEVEL LOW.WHEN OVERFLOW JUG EMPTY IT WILL ALLOW AIR GET IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM AND CAUSE CAR TO OVERHEAT.WHEN REPLACING THERMOSTAT ALSO REPLACE THE RADIATOR CAP ON THE COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG.

Overheating

OVERHEATING CAN BE CAUSE BY MANY THINGS LIKE FAULTY THERMOSTAT AND FAULTY RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP,TOO MUCH WATER IN COOLANT SYSTEM NEED 50 / 50 WATER AND ANTIFREEZE.LOOK FOR WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE LEAK, IF COOLANT LEAKING OUT WEEP HOLE WATER PUMP BAD NEED REPLACING.CHECK FOR LOW COOLANT LEVEL, YOUR RADIATOR OVERFLOW JUG SHOULD HAVE COOLANT AT THE FULL COLD MARK IF NOT KEEP ADDING COOLANT INTO COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG UNTIL COOLANT STOP DROPPING AND FULL COLD MARK, IF OVERFLOW COOLANT JUG WAS EMPTY RADIATOR IS LOW ON COOLANT.WHICH CAUSE AIR IN COOLANT SYSTEM KEEPING THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FROM BEING SUBMERGE IN HOT COOLANT WHICH TURN ON THE COOLANT FANS.WHEN ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GET CERTAIN SET TEMPERATURE LIKE 190 DEGREES THE PCM AND COOLANT SENSOR WILL TURN ON COOLANT FANS, IF VECHICLE OVERHEATING COOLANT FANS NOT WORKING EITHER YOU HAVE FAULTY ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CHECK COOLANT FANS FUSE AND RELAYS. YOU CAN CODE SCAN CAR TO SEE IF YOU HAVE FAULTY PCM, FAULTY ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OR FAULTY COOLANT FAN RELAY.IF COOLANT FAN AND ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OKAY,YOU HAVE CORRECT COOLANT LEVEL IN COOLANT SYSTEM, THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP BEEN REPLACED, YOU COULD HAVE BLOWN HEAD GASKET CHECK ENGINE OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE HEAD GASKET BLOWED ALSO WHEN HEAD GASKET BLOWED YOU CAN DRIVE CAR SHORT DISTANCE START OVERHEATING AND YOU LOOSE ENGINE POWER SUSPECT BLOWED HEAD GASKET.

I have a 2001.5 VW Passat. Within the past three months, I replaced the oil pump and before i replaced the coolant hoses it overheated. Before I replaced the hoses, I made sure that it stayed with...

hi, have you changed the coolant thermostat. you can check this by taking out the thermostat boil it in an old pot and if it OPENS it is o.k.. or bleed the system of coolant take the highest coolant pipe off WHEN COLD and lower it down if flowing then the coolant pump is working. the radiator could be blocked. the engine coolant pump fins can corode (this can warm the coolant too), need to check if coolant is ciculating. the coolant dies after 3 years. gerry

Problem i have an audi a6 and my coolant light has come on

Check your coolant level. When the coolant gets too low this light will come on. If there is plenty of coolant and the light is still on, you probably need to replace the coolant resivouir because the sensor has gone bad. The sensor is located on the coolant resivour and must be replaced as a whole. You can find one for about 60 bucks and is a easy fix. You can do it yourself. Just make sure you replace the coolant with correct Audi coolant.

C.

I have a code P0128, what is my problem is this in the cooling system?

This code is for your Coolant Thermostat - It's detected that the Coolant Temperature is below the Thermostat Regulating Temperature

This code may mean one or more of the following has occurred:
  • Low engine coolant level
  • Leaking or stuck open thermostat
  • Cooling fan running too much
  • Faulty coolant temperature sensor (ECT)
  • Faulty intake air temperature sensor (IAT)
Check the following to see if it resolves your problem:
  • verify coolant strength and level
  • verify cooling fan operation and replace if necessary
  • verify ECT sensor operation and replace if necessary
  • verify IAT sensor operation and replace if necessary
  • if all above checks out, replace the thermostat
