Question about 2005 Yamaha YZF-R1
I have a Yzfr1 with a noise coming from the gearbox area how do I get it fixed.
My dealer has said they know it isn't a clutch problem and without a engine removal and complete strip down of the gearbox they cannot guarantee what the problem is
Get it checked out ASAP. I have an 06 R1 and had some major issues. This is what happened....I was on 95 south bound in CT. My bike started making a funny noise out of the muffler. I let off the gas and went from 65 to 110mph. hit the brake and got nothing. Hit the clutch and the combustion shut down. Let go of the clutch gave it gas and it started again. I dropped down to 45 had smoke out of the exhaust and I got off exit 11. I saw fluid out of the exhaust and it felt and smelt like oil. Gear box or something else (stuck throttle). I won't know until I take it apart.
