Hi, Dennis for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. SOURCE: where is the oil filter on my yamaha V-star 1100

On the right side of the bike (right side when ou are sitting on it) just above the rear brake lever behind a small circular plate. remove the plate and the oil filter is inside (you will easily see it). Warning---on these bikes you have to drop the front exhaust header and right floor board in order to change the oil filter unless you install a after market oil filter relocation kit. If you plan on changing your own oil it is highly recommended to install this relocation kit.

SOURCE: Yamaha 1100 Drag Star 2001 Custom motor starter,

These parts are fairly reliable. Rather than buying new, you should be able to pick one up from a motorcycle breaker who will post it to you. I would expect to pay about £60-£100 tops in the UK (Depending on mileage). ANy Yamaha dealer will be happy to order you one new, but they are a hell of a price!

Hi I have an oil leak @ the front of the engine. It looks like it coming from that chrome cover on the front of the motor is this the breather It is a 2001 v star 1100 classic Thanks

is it The cover behind the front tire with the 2 allen screws holding it on ?, this is the cover for the lifter adjustment. i believe its chrome. Remove the cover and you'll see the valve spring and rocker arm. This is where you make the valve adjustment. The cover has a rubber type gasket around it. You can purchase them from your Yamaha dealer. Replace the rubber gasket and your problem is over. Once you remove the cover you will see. Good Luck!
