Question about 1993 Harley Davidson XLH Sportster 883
On the '93 model which uses a standard mechanical switch with three connections on the back, the only thing that is not controlled by that switch is the voltage regulator. Disconnect the wire from the voltage regulator at the positive battery terminal and see if this stops you "switch off current draw". I think this current draw is typical as it's measured in the milliamp range. The current draw is so small that it wouldn't pull your battery down in a year provided your battery is good. If you're having a problem with your battery, the first thing to do is to take it to an automotive parts house and have it load tested. If the battery is over two years old, it may be bad. Heat and vibration is what gets to motorcycle batteries. I hope this helps,
