Question about 2005 Yamaha V-Max

1 Answer

Chatter feeling when under acceleration

Just put a new clutch in my bike (Yamaha VMAX), thinking or hoping it would stop my bike from a chatter feeling when under acceleration. I pulled the whole rear off the bike to check the drive shaft & Gears in the rear, only to find out it is in perfect condition. This happens in every gear, & it shifts perfect too. What might my problem be ?

Not sure what problem is but my 97 does the same thing it has a rattle or chatter at low throttle and deceleration. Did you ever figure out what the problem was?

Hello I have replaced the clutch plates, the release cylinder seals and rebuilt the clutch master cylinder. There is no leaks and the system has been bled and it feels fine. When I pull the clutch lever in...

Back wheels often move when the lever is pulled in...this is due to hydraulic drag caused by the oil on the clutch plates and is totally normal. You should be able to stop the wheel by hand with the lever in.
With the lever out the clutch is fully engaged and the engine will therefore stall with the brake on...
As long as the wheel rotation can be stopped by hand with the clutch pulled in it's behaving normally...
Rocking the bike in gear is a method that's used to seperate the plates on a clutch that is dragging...usually if it's not been used for a while.

1972 Honda CB750K2. Clutch started slipping at high speed (over 75mph). No noticeable slipping at lower speeds even when punching it through the gears. Also has a slight chatter when sitting in nuetral,...

hi,it sounds like your bike is just about due for a new set of clutch plates(my gsxr race bike did the same thing, put in new plates..problem gone),as far as the rattle or chatter this is normally caused by weak clutch springs or in some cases the clutch basket its self may be worn, not a big job to replace either, most clutch kits come with new fibre plates ,new steel plates and new springs, fit a new kit in the bike and i think most if not all your problems will disappear...cheers

2002 R1 engine slips on high RPM

From the sounds of your riding style (wheelies, etc.) you have burnt out the clutch.
No matter how much fun you think it is, Yamaha never designed them to be a toy to do wheelies. It is a sportsbike designed to go round corners fast.
The only silver lining is, hopefully the cost of replacing the clutch will stop you riding like a fool in future.
