Make sure you have no tention on the cable were it hooks to the throttle. If it does it will idel it up.

Is the throttle cable adjustment directly on top of the carburetor? 1971 yamaha 250 dt ? Where is idle stop located?

The idle screw should be on the side of the carb, you can't really miss it as there will be a spring on it. The adjustment on top of the carb is for the throttle cable & do not use to adjust the tickover speed of the engine.

My bike idels really high all the time ive played with the idel screw and it still does it could it be the jetting?

When you say you've "played with the idle screw", do you mean the idle MIXTURE screw, or the idle SPEED screw?

Also, it COULD be the throttle cable.
At idle, is there a LITTLE slack in the cable, so it's not pulling on the slide/butterfly crank?
Or, it could be cable routing, hanging up on something.
Finally, has the cable ever been lubed?

Yamaha pw50 replaced card and throttle cables when I move lever from start to run the bike is at full throttle. why????

What is a "card" on a PW50? I have one here and have no idea what part you could mean. My guess with the throttle is that you have the cable way too tight. Check that first - it is quite touchy, since the idel is also st with the cable tension on some earlier models.

2001 raptor 660 won't idle, only runs with choke on, an won't take throttle???

need your carb rebuilt or your carb readjusted. sounds like you might have some mud in it. do you take it in the mud? if so check the top where the throttle cable comes through.

My yamaha ttr125L wont idle. the problem is i messed with the idle screw. how do i fix it? i heard you have to trun the idle screw 3 3 1/2 turns. but do i have to take the idle screw completely out. can...

You screw the screw all the way in until it stops, ( be Careful Don't force it closed, just turn it until it bottoms out ) then back it off 1 and a quarter to 1 and a half turns.

2005 v star 1100 stalls when i come to a stop, it seem like i got to give throttle all the time?

this is just your idle adjustment. all you have to do is let the engine warm up to operating temp., then raise the idle. you may need to remove your air intake and filter to get to the adjusting screws. they are usually on the side of the carburetor, right in the center. they may be somewhere else though. some carb's have a cable mounted near the carb to adjust the idel. im not familiar with your specific model. but once you determine where the idle screw(s) are, turn them in clockwise with the engine running. go about 1/4 turn at a time until it will stay running without having to give it throttle.
