I have a ceramic glass cook-top electric range (Sharp KB-3300J) with built-in microwave drawer. I'm having an issue with the right front burner not turning off when the knob is in the off position (The right front burner also has small and large cook areas controlled by the same knob). The first time this happened I noticed the hot surface indicator remained on longer than normal and it felt like the burner was putting off heat (although no red glow was seen). I unplugged the range, waited about 15 seconds and plugged back in. I then turned on the burner - large cook area. I saw a red light flash (kind of like when a light bulb burns out) in the center of the cook top (not where a burner is), then the right front burner turned on (glowing red). When I turn the knob to off the on/off indicator light went off but the burner remained on and glowing. I can unplug the range and repeat this process. The other burners appear to work normally as does using only the small cook area on the right front burner.
My questions are:
1.) what's causing this problem and how to fix?
2.) if I don't use the right front burner will it be safe to leave the range plugged in and use the remaining burners, oven, and microwave?
Thanks
Jon
Look at the back of your range there should be schemetic for your power control board. look for defective burner wire going into relay. There should be 5 relays in rows. Realy is the problem. I had the same problem with my front left burner stuck on high.
After replacing everything works okay.
I am having a similar problem with m Fridgedaire. The left front burner does not turn off. prior to this problem, it took a looooog time for it to heat up... I have been turning the breaker off when not in use as it is difficult to access the plug...HELP?
I am also having turn off problem on smaller burner of dual burner glass stove as of 8/2/08. It remains on high even when know is in off position.

I have a Frigidaire PLEF398AC Electric Kitchen Range that the left back burner will not go off when I turn the dial to the off position. What causes this and can it be fixed. I have only had this range a year!
We unpluged it and left it unpluged for about 30 minutes. An error code came one when we plugged it back in.
Same thing with my front left dual burner... the inner (smaller burner wouldn't trun off and when I got it off the burner actrually turned itself back on at one point so I have the breaker off now
I have an LG LRE30755ST stove, left front single size burner will not turn off. I must unplug the stove to get it off. It heats back up when plugged in. Sometimes the larger part on another burner comes on when not turned on.
I have the same problem. My front right burner does not turn off. Instead, it powers on and off all on its own. Solutions would be appreciated!
I have a fridgedaire ceramic top range. When I look through the front vent I can see that the stove element is on.None of the elements are on and the heat warning light is not on. The top f the stove is hot but it can be touched. Why does it come on and how do I get it to go off?
This will happen sometimes to my 15 year old Amana glass top range. I put a tray, large pan on top of the glass stop and add a layer of ice cubes. Watch that the melting ice don't overflow the pan or tray. The light went off. I did this a week ago and the light has not got stuck again.
