Its a tight fit but they do just pull off, make sure you grab the plastic top firmly, sometimes a little wiggle goes a long way with these, good luck and remember not to force anything, parts are expensive and you have to wait for the order

Yes they should just pull off, make sure you pull on the cap and not the cable

Kawasaki zx7 starts but won't stay running

No special ZX7 experience but symptons are fuel starvation, real pain to debug. drain fuel tank into a jug for over 1 min, flow OK if not blocked filter or crud. Connect to carbs and remove drains to all carbs, drain through carbs as before ensure all have decent flow for 1 min, all OK , Oh dear. now you need to strip carbs and check for corroded parts, fuel intake, emulsion tubes etc blow through with "brake clean" sprays. Before you start, connect strobe to check spark does not die before engine cuts, to eliminate ignition. test each of 4 plug leads please. No joy? come back

Will a 1990 ford ranger with a 2.3 still fire if it is out of time. i replaced belt but it has no spark now.i need to get it running but not sure whats going on.

no,, you have to get the timing set or it will do nothing , align the timing marks,, heres a easy trick, but use care when doing it ,, locate the number one plug on the cap,, (plug wire) remove that plug, and turn the motor over until your sure that its on the compression stroke,, ( I put my finger in the hole, But thats not recommended ) look to see where the rotor is pointing, if its at the number one plug,, your ok if not you need to go another 180 degrees , Once you find that point,, look at your timing marks on the crank and cam,, they should be together if not, your motor was turned over while the belt was misaligned,,

I have a 1990 ZX7 which has been sitting for several years. I cleaned the carbs air filter petcock and fuel lines replaced the battery and can get it to turn over but it will not start. I tried turning it...

Did you try starter fluid?
Pull your plugs & see if gummed up.
If so don't clean replace.
Now if it don't start pull the plug ground it to the bike with the wire on. Now try to turn it over and see if you have spark. Sounds like fuel is going in cylinders but no spark. The last time you tried. I think you got a combustion fire. And that was your bang.

You need a spark plug spanner, remove the spark plug caps and there you have it. Remember not to over tight when putting new ones.

Car has a skip and not firing properly on all cylinders

Before you go checking parts that aren't there, unplug each coilpack connector one at a time with the engine running. After unplugging a coilpack you should hear the idle drop. If you unplug a connector and there is no change in idle, that is your problem cylinder. You can then check to see if there is spark by removing the coilpack and touching it to a ground on the engine, you'll hear it click. If you have spark, check the spark plug, if the spark plug is good, it's most likely a bad fuel injector. You can verify a bad injector by doing a resistance test after removing the connector. Injector replacement is a nightmare on these cars, but it can be done without pulling the plenum if you're mechanically inclined. Visit www.zcar.com for more help.

My 1990 chevy pickup just stopped running.

there should be 2 clips on from the rotor housing to the cap, pull the clips off and lift the cap, you will want to change the rotor inside as well. do not remove the spark plug wires from the old cap yet...replace the rotor, it will only go on one way, and put new cap on, it too should only go one way. now, one at a time, pull the plug wires and put them on the new cap that is mounted. this will ensure that you have them in the right order.

Kawasaki zx7 won't start

Hi. I had the same issues as what your saying. What we found was that the leads are a screw in into the spark plug cap. Unscrew the leads to the cap, trim the ends off by a mm or 2 and re-screw back into cap that goes onto spark plug. There renown for pulling out and giving weak or no spark.
