Your black ignition box may have gone bad. Or your stator plate came loose and changed your timing.

SOURCE: engine back fire

Hi ...... If problem continues try switching petrol off at the tap overnight or when you stop the bike. Sounds like petrol is leaking pass the petrol tap and sitting in the bores and exhausts, soon as you start it up it's igniting in the pipes. Remove the plugs and the colour will indicate how the jetting is set up.

SOURCE: while riding my yz 125 it just died and won,t kick up again

  • If a hole in the piston then install new piston and rings. Next, clean the carbon off the head and install a new head gasket.
  • If cylinder wall is scared the piston has seized up. Pull the cylinder off and take it to the dealer. Have them bore the cylinder and return it along with a new oversize piston and rings.
  • While at the parts counter, get a new stock spark plug and a supply of Yamalube Two Stroke Motor Oil. You need to add 4 ounces per gallon when filling up. This will be a 32/1 gas to oil ratio. NEVER ride the bike without at least the needed 32/1 mix.
Please rate the solution as a "FixYa" if able. Thanks!

SOURCE: battery does not hold charge new battery fitted

Sounds like a charging issue. First check all wires and make sure they are clean and making good contact, then check for proper voltage at the battery. I ride a harly so I don't know the exact voltage to look for but it most likly is around 13V at the battery if it isn't you need to look at your voltage regulator and stator.

I have a 01 rm 125. Just overhauled the engine, but when I rode the bike it does not want to go into second gear from first. It stops in neutral and does not want to go into second. Once it is in second...

if all other gears shif fine, only thing possibly wrong is the shifting mechanism, like bent fork, washer on shaft in the wrong spot etc most likely during overhaul, something was not put back in the right place

Handling

no problems all good news so im looking into one but not sure what to get a 250 or 450 ive riden Both in a honda and kawi but none of the KTM's yet.. so yea any ome got any advice..gonna be riden in the winter 2 oncei get some studed tires so yea but yea thanksDefinitely try and ride a couple. I rode the 525SX and a 200SX a couple years ago and they were a blast. They do tend to have that Euro handling which is a little different than the Japanese bikes, but you'll get used to it rather quickly. The 525 I rode was slimmer than my YZ, which made it a little difficult for me to grip, but I think they've changed the geometry of the bikes a little bit over the years, and I hear they've gotten most of the suspension bugs fixed. Definitely try and ride some and see what you think.,,,
