Removing the Starter
Installing the Starter
You make seem as if the starter wires are easy to access. They are not as they are on top of the starter which is away from you when you are under the car. The tube for the oil dip stick is in the way, so you have to unbolt the brace from the engine, then pull it out of the oil case. Then take the bolts out of the starter. Wiggle the starter so you can reach the wires, which you cannot because the starter will not move enough to rotate it to get the wires off. That is where I am at this point. A dead car and cannot get the starter off.
Roger, how did you finally get the starter off?
You are right. I have removed and installed many starters. It's a fight sometimes, but stick to it and you will get the nuts loose. Take your time and pay attention to what is and isn't happening. Usually you can slide the starter back and flip the Bendix end up, which exposes the wire connectors.
