Bike difficult to start when hot

I have a 1997 ZX6R which starts fine from cold and then runs fine but when it has been run in traffic for a while and i stop the engine it refuses to start again. The temp guage when running is only just above half way when running. I have to leave it for ten mins to cool and then it starts again. I also noticed that if i turned the fuel tap to reserve it then starts but this was when it had cooled down so may just be coinsidence. Any ideas???

When you turn it to reserve, you move the tap past the prime position and this can fill the carbs. It may need a fuel tap kit

My bike runs, idles cuts at 40% if opened any further dies and does not recover unless closed, what is the problem?

Common idleing is corrected by points on many blades. Clean the points and reset distributor and timing. Check loose covers for water seapage and seal when recommended by the mnfctr.

Zx6r running problems

Lest adjusting the idle adjustment screw on the carb, turn the bike on and slowly turn the idle speed up so it doesn't die out on you, if that doesn't work try taking the carb off and cleaning it with carb cleaner

I have a Kawasaki Ninja, ZX6r, 1997 F3. The bike starts great and rev's great when standing. At high rev's its as sweet as a nut. The problem seems to be when riding the bike and the revs are below 4,000....

There are adjustments on carbs for low speed air intake (air mixture screw)find out factory settings and reset that mixture.Sounds to me like those adjustments are out of sink.If so the bike will run very bad from idle to about 1/4 throttle then run great from there up to full throttle.this definitly sounds like carb problem.

Zx6r erratic throttle

Just check on your air ducts. When the bike is staionery it will idle rev and even run well on the dyno, but on the open road the airducts must be in and instadled or mounted correctly
