Theres a loud clacking sound when the fax receives documents, or when we make copies. The fax machine works fine otherwise, but the sound seems to be getting louder. Help!
Opened all accessable covers and cleaned everything then tried replacing the toner cartridge but still clicks loudly during warmup and receive.Opened all accessable covers and cleaned everything then tried replacing the toner cartridge but still clicks loudly during warmup and receive.

Check the baud rate of your transmissions. Slow them down to the slowest setting and send a test fax to a helpful person. Slowly increase the baud rate (communication data speed) and send the fax test. When the fax doesn't show up on the receive site, then step one baud rate speed back, and save the setting.
It could also be your fax that is faulty, or even the receive sites fax, also being faulty.
To test your copy-head, insert a document into your loading section of the fax and press copy. If the copy prints out fine, then you know the head is reading correctly.
It is also possible that the receiver fax (the other end) has a printhead failure.
If you lift up the top, like you are clearing a jammed original, you should see a piece of glass across the machine. Look for something on the glass, usually white-out, and clean it. Test by making a copy. If copy is ok, then you fixed the problem.
Please be specific! Are the problem in document feeding section? Are the problem that when you dial number you hear the clacking noise? Are the error is LINE BUSY? Or....?
Sounds like you may have a small obstruction in the scanner feed. This would inhibit making copies and sending faxes. Lift this section up slightly to inspect for small pieces of paper or dust. Blowing it out with compressed air would also be a good idea.
do a quick check on 2 things. - Copy a document(put a printed page on document feeder and press Copy button) , has the Copy come ok? if copy is also blank that means toner/ink problem, needs to be replaced.
- check with your Fax receive Print settings. is any setting of econo mode/ contrast/brightness Off the track? If found any of such issue then Reset it or put it on average (middle).
If you can copy the document, then you can send it BUT the receiving fax will probably have restricted length fax pages to prevent jammed documents at the sending end causing the receiver to use all the paper. If you have access to a service manual you can restrict the length of faxes sent and received on your machine. But it may be the receiver with the restriction.
