Question about 1995 kawasaki ZX-6R Ninja

2 Answers

The Kawa ZX-6R 1995 has problems with the clutch. In the last weeks the clutch pin (part 13102) has broken and is 3 times replaced. The dealers rechniscians and Kawasaki Netherlands tell us they haven't seen this problem before, and they don't know what to do. It seems to bee a problem with the lubrication of the clutch. In the small rounds glass window near the clutch pin we cannot see any oil of lubrication.

I need a second opinion. The given solution is more or less the same as given and done by the dealer, but after 3 repairs the problem is still existing.

Replace the clutch period - this should be under a recall- ask the dealer about extended warantee work - it is the clutch period.

It would appear that you are correct and lack of lubrication is causing the pins to heat up and fail.

If there is no lube showing in the sight glass, then you simply need to fill it till it appears in the sight glass with the bike level and sitting upright on both tires.

Lack of lubrication will do this everytime, and probably has done other damage as well to other parts of the clutch, trans, and motor.

follow what i said above and see what happens.

I would request that the dealer replace you bike, or send it to a facility that can fix it.

if you are still under manufactures warranty, then call Kawasaki and complain that the dealer cannot fix your bike after several attempts.

Kawasaki ninja zx9r clutch problem

On your bike there are two clutch parts that can wear and cause this problem. The broken spring should be replaced but is not causing the problem. Check the bottom of the clutch release shaft #13102. The end of the shaft may be broken, bent or severely worn. The part the shaft engages with is the clutch rod #46102. It could be bent, broken or severely worn. This part is inside the clutch hub. Just remove the five springs and then the outer cover plate and the rod should be accessible.
