The standard mix is 4 ounces of two stroke engine oil to one gallon of gas. Do not use standard motor oil. Only use two stroke engine oil.

Never Mix That Much Fuel At One Time. Mix 2 GALS. At Most. 2-Strokes Don't Like Ethanol Fuel. Mix 4 OZ. Synthetic 2- Stroke Oil To 1 GAL. 93 Octane Fuel. Run The Correct AUTO-LITE Or Iridium NGK Plug. Lightly Seat The Air Screw On The Carb Then Turn(CCW) 1 1/2 Turns Out. Never Run With This Screw Less Than 1 Turn (CCW) Out. Make Shure Coolant Level Is Correct. Check The Reeds Ever So Often. When Replacing Use 2-Stage Carbon-Fiber.

Hi im just wondering what the fuel mixture should be for my 1996 rm 250 ? thanks mark

For a 250, you can get away with a leaner mix like 40:1 but I still race a 250 2-stroke from time to time for fun and I run 32:1. More oil = less friction, less heat, better sealing, etc...

Any idea what it was jetted to run? the difference between 40:1 and 32:1 is fairly minimal and if the bike is jetted fairly well I doubt you will tell a difference. If the plug is black it is too rich.

32 to 1. That means 4 ounces of two stroke engine oil per gallon of gas. NEVER use motor oil.

I have a 2006 rm 250 2 stroke i just noticed the pile of oil under the rear fender where the muffler blows is this caused by a bad oil fuel mixture?

You should be running a good oil at 32:1. If you are, and still get oil out of the pipe, your jetting is too rich.

Oil Check 83' RM 250

There is no engine oil. You put two stroke oil in a separate tank and it gets pumped into the engine depending on how fast the engine turns.

My old suzuki rm 250's plug keeps getting fouled, what is causing this?

you can have your mix off, your air filter is plugged up, or you jets can be off pending your elevation.its possible your float is not set right or even a piece of trash on the needle valve that is dumping to much fuel. its definitely not your RINGS on a 2 stroke if it were a 4 stroke I'd say do a wet and dry compression test.Be sure you are using a quality oil as well.

What oil should i use

Use 10w40 motor oil in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell. If in a hot area like Texas or New Mexico go with 20w50.

Use TWO STROKE ENGINE OIL in the pump. If not using an automatic oil pump, then mix the gas and oil 32 to 1. That equals 4 ounces of TWO STROKE ENGINE OIL to one gallon of gas. NEVER use motor oil in the gas. Only two stroke engine oil.

could be too much 2 stroke oil in your mix or worse case, your piston rings are going.

Hot starter

4 stroke engines require a leaner than normal fuel/air mixture to start when hot. The cold start choke allows more fuel into the mix. The hot start choke allows more air into the mix.
