SOURCE: I have a 2000 tw200 yamaha and Im not getting oil pressure up from the base.I took the oil filter out and started the bike and no oil out of there. There is oil in the bike.Don't know if its the oil p
tw's are great bike, just have to make sure it is on a tip top shape. you are correct, you may want to check on the pump because if there is no oil going to the filter, then the pump is at fault or the flow of oil from and to the pump may be blocked.
you may also want to check on your seals and gaskets as this may also cause pressure drops.
hope this helps.

I had a similiar problem with my Vmax. It was the Vboost computer for mine. It is located under the Left side scoop and is a small black plastic box with a round electrical connector. They are very expensive new. I got my replacement on ebay for around 75.00 dollars. I hope this helps.

Air or fuel. Your not getting enough of one or the other. Start with air by removing your air filter (temporarly) and see if that will tell you anything.

Sounds more like the previous owner did some modifications to the bike such as a jet kit. The jet size was probably increased in the carbs with no other modifcations. This will cause the bike to run rich. If you do not have an aftermarket exhuust and a k&n air filter already then this may be you problem.
