I agree with solution one, and would like to add that when your adjusting your
pushrods,start with the rear cylinder first, make sure the tappets are at ther lowest position before reinstalling the pushrods, then take up the clearance until no up and down movement if felt and that you can still spin them with no resistance. tighten the lock nut and then do the front cylinder same way.

The engine timing setting are 5° BTDC starting and 40°BTDC at 2500 RPM or greater. The ignition system on the bike is all solid state and will not change once set unless someone goes into the timer cavity and changes it. That's why there are rivets holding the timer cavity cover plate on. Unless you have reason to believe someone has messed with the timing on your engine, don't fool with it, it's factory set.
