Check the timing by removing the covers and bringing the engine around by hand to the marks at the top of the cams, then peek through the glass, it should be on it's mark. Or better yet, it has to be on it's mark. The carbs have no adj, except for the amount of air going in. What happened to the bike to make it change? Move to a different elevation? Change air filter? Change exhaust? In order to change the way it runs, you will need to jet it. Does it have Mikunis? Get a kit from Dyno-tune, they work great, and they are adj. You can find them on Ebay, I tried the factory setting jets, didn't work, got the dyno-tune kit, worked great. And, depending on the milage, when were the valves done last? That could be the problem right there.

Got 308 v8 in nissan patrol running 600 cfm holley running to rich is carby to big

get it jetted right and it will probably pass
308 would work best on a 450 -550 holley
running rich could be
float levels too high
excessive fuel pressure --use a regulator in the fuel line
damaged power valve diaphragm-- subject to burning holes in the diaphragm on back fires
the idle mixture screws incorrectly adjusted
there are speed shops with chassis dynos that will be able to tune the carby correctly so talk with them about the carby size and the problem

I have about a "67" 40 big twin. wont stay running. I have replaced the coils, points, wires plugs, fuel pump works, cleaned carb. it has 110lbs on both cylenders, they hold steady,

possible cause could be that the idle mixture adjustment for the carbys is out
find the adjuster screw and with the motor stopped turn all the way in then turn back out 1 and 1/2 turns start the engine and using the throttle to maintain engine running adjust each screw until the throttle is no longer needed
at that point turn one screw at a time in until the rpms slow then count the turns out until the rpms again slow , the turn in half that number of turns
at that point the carby is tuned for that cylinder
repeat for the other cylinder
failing that take it to an accredited bike shop and have it adjusted professionally

How do I tune a carby for a Mitsubishi PM 1500 L Scorpion generator

pull the carby and clean it out
the indication is that there is a blockage in the main jet or not enough fuel flow into the carby
check filter in the tank above the fuel tap, check the fuel tap for flow
there is no tune up points as it is a basic carby to run the engine at set rpms

Why would my 1997 harley sportster xl 883 run hotter then usual & when it's hot and I shut it off it doesn't want to shut right off I can't figure . The carburetor was rebuilt. tune up was done .

I suspect that the engine tune up was not well done as a hot running motor after a carby overhaul indicates that it is running too lean
could be possible carby to manifold gasket failed or leaking or the carby bolts not tight
could be incorrect float level or the air /fuel mixture screw not adjusted correctly
if the carby has a solenoid near the mixture screw then if that is not working properly ,the motor will "run on" after the ignition is turned off as the pistons will still be getting a charge through the idle circuit that is being ignited by hot spots in the cylinder.

How do i tune the carby on a peewee 50? the bike wont run properly

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel cap or fuel tank is not venting properly.
2. Fuel filter clogged.
3. Fuel line pinched or kinked.
4. Float needle and seat sticking.
5. Float level too low.
6. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
7. Idle adjusting screw set too low.
8. Air/fuel mixture screw set too lean.
9. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
10. Slow fuel jet clogged.
11. Faulty fuel pump.

Carbi settings on jonsered 49 sp

Bse settings will be L one and a quarter turns out and H one turn out, you will have to fine tune from there, they are both fuel screws so the more you turn them out the richer it will run, idle speed 3000 to 3200, max rpm 12000.

Hi how to tune homelite 330 chain saw carby, idle

Before adjusting anything, check the fuel filter, air filter, and muffler for plugging. Check the condition of the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Tighten all carburetor fasteners. Make sure you have fresh fuel mix in the tank. Does the primer bulb pull fresh fuel into itself when pumped? Turn both jet screws CW to stops (lightly), then back out CCW 1-1/2 turns each. This is a basic setting and should allow the engine to start and run. Start the engine and allow it to warm up, then pull the throttle full on. Adjust H needle CW until the engine starts to speed up, but still 4-stroking. Proper final adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes unloaded, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and adjust L needle CW for fairly good idle, but still allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Adjust idle speed screw so that the chain stops turning, but the engine will continue to run. Hope this helps!

Carburator change

I would get a new mechanic. In a carby, there is only a few things that move or wear out.At the most! you rebuild a carby. It is a lot cheaper than buying new carbs. If yours are an original carb and you have a problem,it's most likely a combination that the mechanic can't work out.I have a 83 carby Duke and an 99 efi. They are very easy to work on and Ducati do a lot of homework to get the bikes going well.Mate! get a second opinion.Hope this helps
