Leave it on the ground, set it up to the battery and see if it pumps gas. If not take it back, manufacturers' make mistakes also. Army mechanic

2013 honda fury fuel relay fuse keeps blowing put new one n an turn key on it blows ????? Why?

the relay is only a current buffering device, ( a poor mans transistor i call it)
if the pump or it's wires are shorted, the relay can melt.
the first test is pump voltage
if the volts is like 6v (low) cranking we pump check current.
5 amps is typical for these small cars.
15 amps is bad.
if confused get a automotive electrics/electronics tech to fix it.
He has a nice meter to find this fast.
here is one.

the best tool is the AMP CLAMP (DC amperes)
i put it on the line and check pump current.
the pump is fuel cooled and fuel lubricated, never run the tank dry.
nor run the car (pump) with filter clogged, it overloads the pump.

What could cause the fuel pump to have no power?

All cars, made. EFI
1: fuse good.?
2: ECU sees key on, some cars run pump for 3 seconds now, many don't, read FSM under fuel pump it's all there.

3: The ECU energizes the Fuel pump relay as you crank engine.
the relay closes, and sends 12vdc to the pump.
so we check for 12v a the relay output cranking,
if dead, it can be ( bad Relay or ECU, usually never ECU)
bad relay or shorted output.?
be aware that pumps do short.
some pumps draw too much current, 2x normal(bad) and over load the supple line, (fuse didnt blow) this can cause the ECU or
other part to act wrong, (low voltage)

so we measure pump current first. to be sure its not too much.

if the voltage is 0v to pump , i unplug the pump.
crank got 12v? then the pump must be shorted.
or the relay is burned up.
keep in mind the voltage only matters if current is flowing.
most pumps draw about 5 amps.
if the draw is 5amp and voltage is 12v and the pump is dead.
its a bad pump.
if the draw is 10amps (overload) the pump is bad or wires cut and hitting body.
if the draw is 0 amps at 12v, then the wires are or the pump is dead.
this is how i diagnose all electrics.

this circuit is easy, its only 3 parts not counting wires. and fuse.
the ECU
the relay,
the pump.
btw, did you know i can find a soon to fail pump (works now)
using a scope/?
here is that magic. Duane here, is using current probe.
the pump need full power at all times to work correctly
a pump can actually have open commutator segments or or shorted windings (and still spin) the scope finds these very common electr. faults, with NO TAKING TANK FROM CAR !

Did you check fuel pump electrical circuit ? Look at a wiring diagram to see what all is involved in making the fuel pump work. No , the knock sensor can't cause this ! Do you know how to do automotive electrical circuit testing using a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? How to read an use a wiring diagram to pin point areas for testing in a electrical circuit ! What do you think makes that fuel pump work ? AIR !!!! Looking at a wiring diagram I see a fuel pump relay that gets B+ voltage from the engine control relay. The engine computer energizes both, relays .There is a fuel pump resistor inline before the fuel pump.

Click the search button then the second blue link . The second diagram down shows the fuel pump electrical circuit .

Fuel pump fuse blown, what causes the fuse to burn?

Fuse's burn if a component in a system has an electrical failure wether it be permanent or intermittent or sometime electrical circuits have an electrical surge which can be caused by numerous things and the fuse will burn to protect the circuit. If your fuse is coninuously burning out then you need to do some investigative work. First I would locate the fuel pump relay and remove that then replace the fuse and see if it burns out, second if you can access it try to unplug the wiring to the pump and replace the fuse, third you should check the wiring going to the pump to see if there is damaged wiring. The last thing that may (but unlikely) be the problem would be the ECM that controls the system. If the first three fail you should try and have it properly diagnosed by good shop.

2001 Suzuki XL7 is blowing the fuel pump fuse every 15-20 miles...It is pulling 260 ohms... What could be the problem?

Replace with known good fuel pump. The windings in your fuel pump are shorted and drawing too much current. This could be bad because it could cause a fire!!!!

Fuel pump won't engage...getting 7 volts

Yeah they all sound the same, you have a short somewhere along the line thats affecting the fuel pump. If you've already done the harness, its probably somewhere else along the line. If your having problems with other systems check through them first, like the guy with the door locks too, probably means its shorting out through there. Pain in the **** with the test light and all, but cheaper than a new fuel pump and harness. Hope this helps.
