Wen I am riding and put in the cluth to slowly change down gears to stop at a light my bike revs up and down.

Hi I have a 2002 Corolla with an apexi, when driving it can start to splutter a bit and I have to put my accelerator down fully just to maintain the revs, then as the car slows I have to change down a gear...


Most common problem is the IAC(Idle Air Control) valve.But if you say some times work I will suspect the throttle is clogged. Remove the Air hose,apply full throttle and hold, spray carburetor cleaner on clot using thin long nose player clean inside wall and throttle. don't spray directly inside because the carb cleaner is to aggressive for some of the gasket.

My kx 80 (1992) starts and revs up nice but wen put into gear it hardly moves, the heavyer the person trying to ride it the less it goes, when I lift the back wheel off the floor (no pressure on engine)...


Front wheel drag (locked brake).Bad tire air pressure.If not,is carburetor cloged,need to drain (bolt under) or remove to clean.If the motor revs in the gear ,the clutch slip.Could be bad clutch cable tension or need replace clutch/cable.

I have a 2003 mazda rx8 its a manuel anyway il be driving in 5th gear and il put my foot down and the rev needle will shoot up and then drop back down while my speed


Yes it is the clutch slipping, in high gear the greatest load is put on the clutch so that is when they slip the most.

How to drive?


you can ride the cluthch on a bike un like a car you wont hurt it its oil lubricated constantly, sitting on the bike pull the clutch in with your left hand and click the left foot lever down in to 1st, then learn how to click it back up 1 half movement in to neutral. the neutral light will come on sfter the bike enters neutral. in first gear give the throttle on the right hand a squeeze and pull the clutch in with your left hand put foot gear selector down in to 1 st and begin to release clutch slowly. hold on as bike will engage may be jerky balance yourself! when you get moving stop! by pulling the clutch in and the hand brake as you close the throttle to stop! practice your take off many times some where safe! when you get your balance in 1st gear pick up speed and begin shifting the foot gear selector up in to 2nd gear and practice closing the throttle and breaking to a safe stop. gears are generslly 1st down 1 click 2345 and6th all up from there and neutral is 1 half a click up from 1st between 2nd gear. And dont put it in gear with the kick stand down t may stall on you

Hi Art! First of all, congratulations on your 1967 Triumph... that's a beauty!!!

Basic things to know before riding a bike is it's parts.

Clutch is the lever you press on the left side of the handle bar.

Front disc brake is the lever on the right side of the handle bar.

Shifter is the one you're stepping on when shifting gears and is located on the left side of the engine if you're on it.

Now, you must first know if the gear is on Neutral by pushing the bike before starting the bike. If it's hard to push then the shifter is not in neutral. Press the shifter by your left foot until you are able to push the bike with ease.

Hop on the bike and start the engine. Most bikes have ignition starters but if your bike doesn't have one, then you have to turn keys to on position and use the kick starter. Rev the engine by pressing the throttle grip on the right side of the handle bar.

Engine is running and in idle position. Press the Clutch lever (left hand) and press the shifter once (left foot) DO NOT RELEASE THE CLUTCH YET!!!

Slowly press the throttle with your right hand until you hear or feel the engine purr...

Slowly release the clutch (left hand) until you fell the bike move forward.

If I am not mistaken, shifting the gears of the triumph is 1-down and 4 up...

Every time you shift gears, you need to press the clutch to release the gears.

How do i on a motorcycle go to first gear from 5th


hi, if when you start your bike you press the gear lever down to go to 1st from neutral and then pull it back up to go to 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th then the only way to get back into first gear is to press the gear lever down 4 times to get it back into 1st gear their is no quicker way to do this you have to work your way back down the gears.

if your coming to a stop quick then just pull the clutch in and keep pushing the lever down until it dont push down any further it will only go down 1 gear at a time so you will need to push it down 4 times but you dont need to count you can just keep pressing it down the gears until it dont go down any more then you know this is first, you need to keep the clutch in when doing this.

how ever if your slowing down is more gradual then what you can do is go from 5th down to 4th then let engine slow the bike down then when the revs drop down change down to 3rd and so on until you get ot 1st gear.

if your coming to a stop quick say at lights or junction then if the bike is in 5th gear then you can change down the gears once the bike has stopped just hold the clutch in when you stop and keep tapping the gear lever down until you feel that its not going down any more gears this way you know its in 1st without having to cound down the gears, their id no quicker way of going down the gears to get to 1st.

Engine clutch mess


Check your kick stand sensor if it's unplugged then there is your problem. If it's still plugged in then the sensor might be gone. The sensor shuts the bike down if you try to take off when the kick stand is down. you can bypass the sensor by jumping the two wires before the sensor with a piece of wire connecting the two leads together. doing so will allow the bike to be put into gear with the kick stand down so always check it so you won't have an accident. good luck and get out ridding!

Problem with throttle


Sounds a lot like clutch slippage to me. First I would check clutch oil. If it is low or worn enough to have lost its viscosity that could be the cause. Here is the backyard **** mechanic way to check clutch wear and slippage. Crude but effective. Point the bike toward a sturdy flat stationary object (a brick wall?). Roll the front wheel firmly against the wall. Make sure the bike is perfectly perpendicular to the wall, the frot wheel is aligned straight, and that the rear wheel is on a solid surface (concrete or asphalt -- not grass or dirt). Climb aboard into riding position and start the bike. In first gear clutch in, rev the bike as you would for a moderate start away from a stop (maybe 3k-4k or so) and slowly release the clutch. If the clutch is good, as the clutch starts to grab the revs will go down noticeably, and as it gets fully engaged or close to it the bike will stall. If the clutch is slipping (depending on how bad it is) the motor will continue to spin at pretty much the same speed as the clutch is engaged. This is a kind of touch-feel thing but if the clutch is bad, you should know it. Needless to say do this carefully and at your own risk, but it works a wonder if you do it right. Another way to check is to ride the bike. Get into the power range barely (above 8K) and hold it steady. Does not really matter what gear, but I suggest 2nd or 3rd. Whack the throttle. If the RPMs rise quickly (quicker than the speed) you've got clutch slippage.,,,
