I have an HP712, Pent 4 and I lost power. The power light blinks but won't start the computer. Do I need to replace the battery?

Does the computer start from the power supply? If you try removing the battery completely, does it still start?
If the answer to both the above questions is "yes", and it doesn't work with the battery only, then indeed you should replace the battery.

Iturned on the calculator one day and it was very dim. A few dayds later, no read out

Batteries. Batteries. Batteries.

That is the description of what happens to TI Graphing Calculators when the battery power diminishes. The calculator will always reduce its display contrast in order to maximize time till expiration. There should have been prompts to warn you of its impending doom.

So, if it was very dim one day, and failed to display another day; then it most likely lost its battery power.

By the way, your calculator has lost all of its memory when it completely diminishes. So, if you want to avoid losing all of your content then I would suggest your replace the batteries before battery expiration.

Slowing down for stop sign, lost everything, all power, including lights

Check the battery connections - sounds like one is completely off. If they are tight, check the battery ground wire, where is connects to the frame. It may have corroded and lost integrity or come away completely.

Lost all power to Laptop

Try resetting your laptop by taking out the battery pack completely for a few minutes: the on/off funtion is often software controlled and may have hang especially if you cannot power it up either via battery or while plug to the charger.
Hope it helps.

Battery backup?

which model do you have ? the 8000/8001 or 8011 the set is different depending on your type of heating system. This model has a memory chip not a battery that saves your settings. So you could be looking at replacing the unit.

Laptop power failure

Is the battery holding a charge? If the battery's no good, then I'm thinking the power adapter plug in has loosened from the motherboard, not completely, but enough so if moved just right, power is lost.
If the battery IS good, then you need to vacuum or blow out the fan/heatsink vents. It would be best, if this is the problem, to have it cleaned by someone with experience.
Let me know about if the battery is charging or not.
Good luck
