Check oil lines and when storing saw stand on end or on side blade up.. vote if'n i was of help.. remember BUY USA MADE PRODUCTS.. Jay

  • Barrissimo Apr 10, 2019

I think if standing the saw on end would help, that just might be in the manual. But as others have posted, the mfr says it will leak slowly, and suggests to empty the reservoir between uses. Kind of obvious, actually. The function of the oil reservoir is to slowly seep oil so that the guide bar stays lubricated for the chain to slide over it with minimal friction.
No "oil lines" either, on these little electric chain saws.
Nice little saw, just bought a used one for my yard work. Yeah, it drips oil. I like the other user suggestion to store it on a cookie sheet.

I have a Remington Electric Chain Saw, Model # 111174-01. I can't keep oil in the reservoir. it leaks and runs through the seam in the bottom of the housing leaving a puddle wherever it sits.

The Owner's Manual says "IT IS NOWMAL FOR OIL TO SEEP WHEN SAW IS NOT IN USE. EMPTY OIL TANK AFTER EACH USE TO PREVENT SEEPAGE." Istore mine on a cookie sheet.

We are in no way connected with RemingtonPower. They are no longer in production and replacement parts are very difficult to find. Often eBay is your only source of parts. Sorry. Lou

Electric pole saw Model 106890-02. Chain oil

We are in no way connected with RemingtonPower. They are no longer in production and replacement parts are very difficult to find. Often eBay is your only source of parts. I can only suggest an Internet search for "Remington YourPartNumber". Does it make sense to invest more money in an obsolete item? Eventually a part you need will not be available. Invest in a name brand you expect to be around for at least 10 years. Name brand saws are better constructed than was Remington IMO, and need fewer parts over the long haul. Sorry. Lou

What type of oil is used in the remington 16" chain saw?

From page 9 of a M12510US (bar oil is SAE 30 with additives to help it adhere to the bar and chain):
FILLING OIL TANK
1. Remove oil cap.
2. Fill oil tank with SAE #30 motor oil. Note: For temperatures below 30°F, use SAE #10 oil. For temperatures above 75°F, use SAE #40 oil. 3. Replace oil cap at once. Tighten oil cap firmly for good seal. This will avoid oil seepage from tank.
4. Wipe off excess oil.
Note: It is normal for oil to seep when saw is not in use. Empty oil tank after each use to prevent seepage.

This is one of the most complete "Owners Manuals" Remington offers. If not your saw you can find your manual here:

Need chain oil resevoir for Remington electric

I suspect you did an on line search, we can do no better. Remington has ceased production. Parts availability is limited to what is on hand. It might be advisable to save the money you would expend for parts and put it toward the purchase of a new electric saw.
Poulan has been in business a very long time and offers 8 different models. Some can be found at Lowes. HTH

Sooner or later you will encounter a part that isn't available for your Remington. Yours may be worth more as parts than as a complete assembly. eBay?

What kind of chain oil to use for a 10in remington electric

According to the manufacturer... "Use SAE 30 motor oil for best results. (For temperatures below 30° F, use SAE 10. For temperatures above 75° F, use SAE 40.) DO NOT use Bar & Chain oil." So, I suggest for any Remington electric chains saw not to use bar and chain oil. I hope this helps...

My 106821A 10" Remington electric chain saw leaks oil heavily when stored. Suggestions?

According to the manufacturer... Saw has a gravity-fed oiling system and it is normal for oil to “slowly” seep when saw is not in use. Empty tank after each use to prevent seepage. If you empty before you store it that should do the trick. I hope this helps!
