Question about 2003 Yamaha WR 450 F

1 Answer

My 03 wr450f ran fine for me last summer...i let it set for a good 6 months...went to crank it the other day... I do race it and it still will fly on top end speeds but it will hardly idle now and back fires sort of like a miss....with choke off...it does not smoke I changed the plugdrained the gassprayed alittle carb cleaner in the fuel line before cranking and taped the bowl some...it ran alittle better but still is not my old bike... Does this sound like carb problem to you...this bike has been very dependable till now.. When I first cranked it it would only idel with choke on... Thanks for your time....mike Wilson

Yes you will need to remove and clean the carb, fuel will have left sediment after 6 months

More specifically if it will idle on choke and not or badly with the choke off, then probably the pilot jet is blocked.

I have a crosman model 380, .22 cal pellgun that leaks when the co2 is inserted and punctured. I cant see any seal or O-ring at the puncture point. What is missing and how can I fix the problem. Matt

I have the same problem and have dealt with guns for 40 years !
I am glad to see that the other folks have some realistic and innovative ideas of how to remedy this problem.
I went to Lowe\'s on a "tip" and found some very small \'O\' Rings for $ 0.87 for two and I am experimenting with them. The first try I couldn\'t crank the screw down far enough to even puncture the CO2 Cartidge. Using a larger screwdriver I finally managed to puncture the cartidge, unfortunately it still leaked but waas a much smaller leak.

Still experimenting.

I am going on-line to locate the Model 380 Schematic diagram which is where I ran int this site.

Good luck all !

Snapper push lawnmower worked fine last summer thru Sept. took it out today and can't get it to crank. Any suggestions to crank lawnmower after it sit up for 6 months?

Your carburator has old fuel that has turned to "varnish" essentially. It must be removed and cleaned. Next year, run the fuel all the way out so there is none left in it to turn to varnish.

You need to remove the carburetor ,take the bowl off, and locate the slow speed jet/circuit and clean it with carb cleaner and blow through it. Once the dirt or varnish is removed it should start and idle like before.

V star 1100 05' starting problem

Hi Bullsport,

This problem occurs on too much starter cranking i.e. the engine doesnt respond or fire up at a go.
Try to check the bike's spark plugs.
Probabley it needs a good tune up ( the bike).

Good luck.
