Why does oil blow from breather to air cleaner yamaha tt 600


Hi, Anonymous oil leaking from your air cleaner is caused by oil carryover from the engine. For whatever reason, the breather system is not separating enough oil mist and air from the piston downstroke. There are cheap and quick easy fixes and there are more expensive ones. First, make sure your breather hoses are not dry and cracked if they are ok you can start by trying the following:
1. Run your oil level half way between the add and full mark when hot.
2. Run oil breather lines from the head into a TEE fitting below carb/induction module then a single line into a mini filter under the frame.
3. Purchase Arlen Ness Super Sucker.
4. Replace umbrella valves and realign oil pump.
5. Upgrade oil pump and cam plate.

Ttr 50 starter will not engage engine, the starter is working and able to push start


Hi, Anonymous your starter motor is not/was not the problem that dubious title goes to the starter drive/Bendix/clutch which is a separate component that is activated by the starter motor it is a mechanical gear driven part that engages the clutch pack to turn over the engine. It has an internal mechanism that allows the gear to turn in one direction and once the engine starts allows the drive gear to free spin. If gear free spins in both directions then the drive gear has failed, it is not serviceable and needs to be replaced. Ttr50 oil blowing from vent tube


Hi, Lee oil level readings are taken when the engine has reached normal operating temperature and the usual suspects are:
1. Overfilled oil tank dipstick reading should at or below full.
2. If the sight glass is full you are running to much oil.
3. Excessive blowby caused by worn out piston rings.
4. Piston rings never properly seated.
5. Faulty breather valve or system.
6. Pinched or clogged breather line/hose.
7. Clogged or failed oil filter.
8. Contaminated oil dirt-rust-water etc.
9. Excessive oil foaming.
10. Wrong oil type not designed for your bike.

What weight oil is used for a 1984 2wd toyota pickup


10w 40 - 20w 50 is good depeding on the mileage. If it is higher mileage, I would use the heavier oil(20w 50). If the engine has been rebuilt or is well maintained, low mileage, use the lower weight oil. Any quality brand will work. If you decide on synthetic, you will be stuck with synthetic! Royal Purple or Lubro Moly makes really great products to give longevity to your engine. It will come with a bigger price tag though.

What kind of oil should I use in Florida. Truck leaks a lot.Would a heavier oil help with limiting leaks?


You could use a straight weight SAE 40 or 50 in a warm climate like that. The heavier oil shouldn't run out quite as fast.

basically those numbers mean it is 20 weight oil when it is cold and 50 weight when it is hot. it should be fine for that motor tho i would recommend 10w30. with the heavier oil you should find the motor quieter tho in extreme cold temperature it will be harder to turn over.

Recommended Engine Oil


You can keep using that oil with no problems. Most people don't really understand what the numbers on the bottle actually mean. There is a really long definition but here is the short version: The first number represents the pour point of the oil at freezing (@32 degrees F).
The second number represents the protection offered, compared to a "straight weight" oil eg: 30, 40, 50, at 212F degrees. Therefore, at freezing, your oil will pour (or flow) like a 20 weight oil, and give wear protection of a 50 weight oil at 212 degrees.
The quality of any oil is based upon the chemical makeup of the base oil, some have a high parafin content and are prone fo sludge formation, while better ones do not and tend to last longer. The ability to "change weights" with temperature is controlled by an additive "package" which is part of the product formula, as are other features such as anti foaming and the ability to keep particles in suspension.
If you stay with better oils such as Castrol, Quaker State, Valvoline etc. You will have no problems. (especially because in your area you don't go from sub zero to 100's).
Don't forget to add a quality filter to your oil changes. This is as important as your oil!!!

O.K. Let's use 20 weight for example. A straight weight oil is just that, a straight 20 weight in viscosity, it doesn't change when it gets hot or is cold, so it won't thin when heated. It will read
sea 20 on the container. A 20/50 has a viscosity that changes when heated. When cold it is a 50 weight, then as it heats up it thins to a 20 weight. A 20/50 might not be too bad to run in this situation, but the viscosity breakdown is quicker with the mixed viscosity oils, so I generally recommend running a straight weight, such as 15 or 20 in the winter, and a 30 or 40 in the summer. Keep in mind that the oil does not thin, so if you have extreme cold in the winter, the car may not start very easy. If it doesn't, then you can go to a thinner oil. In the summer, if you have extreme heat, you can go with a thicker oil if the engine has a little noise, or running hotter than usual. Just remember, the lower the number, the thinner the oil. Running a thicker oil in yours, should cut down on the oil consumption.
