Your clutch is not fully engaging. Tighten your clutch cable if too loose. Bleed the system if it is hydraulic.

Cannot change gear when engine running, when put into gear and then start engine car lurches forward. i figure its the clutch but mech says it may be gearbox

Not the trans, the clutch is not releasing. The clutch may be shot or the release mechanism may not be working. This could be linkage , a cable , or a hydraulic master cylinder & slave cylinder

Engine shuts off when put in gear, could by kickstand switch, but could the clutch need bleeding?

Unlikely that the clutch needs bleeding unless she lurches forward when she dies
It will be side-stand, clutch or neutral lockout switches or the relay

My troybilt lurches forward and you can't hold onto it. I bought it used and the belt was slipping but no lurching problem- After the shop put on the new belt. It lurches forward when you start to...

This is normal for these. The belt slipping before absorbed this. The only real way to prevent this is to weigh the tiller down with large rocks, concrete blocks, something of that sort. They have been built much lighter since Troy-Bilt was bought by MTD, and don't weigh enough to keep from picking up and taking off when you use it. I have a small one, and I weigh it down with about 150 lbs of concrete and lead, and that does it.

2004 Camry lurches forward when stopping.

Sounds like the torque converter isn't unlocking quick enough. Drive at 45mph,keep foot on gas and use other foot to touch the brake and watch the tach to see if it speeds up,when converter releases. Check trans fluid level hot.If it is more than a couple years old, change. Use the correct fluid for Toyota and add a bottle of Lubgard. Have the throttle positon senor scanned and check any idle control circuits. Throttle Body may need cleaning.

My 250 honda rebel runs fine in neutral but shuts off when i put it in gear. When i don't have the cluch engaged it lurches foward slightly then shuts off.

Check the side stand kill switch. Broken, loose or out of adjustment it will kill the bike when put in gear. The idea is to prevent starting out with the side stand down. Check the wires and connections also.
