Question about 2001 Yamaha FZS 1000 Fazer

1 Answer

My 2002 Yamaha FZ1 was running fine. I shut it off and now it won't turn on again. I have no lights, nothing comes on with power. I check the battery and it's ok. when I turn the key on I still get nothing. The speedo, lights nothing comes on. I checked the fuses as well and they are good. A couple of times the lights did come on when I turned the key. But the fuel pump never cycled and when I hit the start switch, I hear a small click from under the tank and the lights and every thing else goes out. The starter does nothing at all. What can this be. A bad relay or something?

It is very likely the igntion switch is defective, it is under the igntion lock cylinder.

SOURCE: I have a 1999 Yamaha Wolverine. When start button

it sounds to me like you have a faulty terminal, check voltage reading to the relay from battery pos terminal, now push and hold button and recheck on same terminal, if it stays at around 12volts check terminal on other side of relay it this is lower significantly than first side replace again with new relay. of both terminals voltage drops you have faulty battery.

Hello, My 2013 Fz1 wouldn't start? Have checked battery, fuses, TPS, APS

Hi, Tanuj before testing any electrical component in the Starter Circuit it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test because your battery may have 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amps causing the battery to be faulty and must be replaced, especially "AGM" batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
4. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
5. FOB battery low or dead.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
9. Security alarm needs a reset.
10. Starter relay, solenoid, starter have failed or circuit wiring faulty.
11. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
12. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
13. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
14. Check for engine trouble codes.

My low beam is out on my 2002 fz1 . is it a relay or bulb problem both headlight work on high

Hi, Ricky if your headlight is not working, only one beam works, keeps burning out, blinking, or is dim the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, then check your head light bulb socket ground wire for a clean tight connection, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to headlight bulb socket.
2. Worn down solder contacts or loose fit of the bulb base in the socket due to vibration.
3. Worn, chaffed, or broken wires in the light circuit.
4. Corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets in wire connectors.
5. Faulty hi/lo beam switch.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Fuse is good but no continuity on both sides.
8. Faulty wiring between battery positive and headlight bulb socket.
9. Weak charging alternator/generator.
10. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier ground or overcharging.
