Question about Honda CX 500 B Motorcycles

1 Answer

Honda CX500 79' wont start :( I was riding my bike down the road going about 20-25 with the clutch in going down a small hill and all the sudden the bike stopped running and hasn't started since. I pulled the stator hearing that the bike has a history of the stator crapping out but the guy at schucks assured me that if it were the stator it wouldnt cause the bike to die. If you have any suggestions I would be deeply appreciative!! btw I have a Honda 79' cx500 Custom

Hi! It may be a simple battery issue. Please check if the battery is good enough to give power to the bike. Please do check the plug wires too for it may be faulty and not giving enough power to the plugs. Hope this helps and good luck!

Wont start .it is something to do with the stand

If the bike has the side stand down and the clutch is released, the ignition is cut for safety. It stops riding away with the side stand down.

Ticking when cruising and not under load or going down hill

Not a lot of information to go on. I really need more. Is the sound coming from the engine, transmission, rear wheel, front wheel, or you just can't tell? Does it tick when going down the road with the clutch lever pulled in? While you have the clutch lever pulled in, turn the engine off and see if it goes away. Try different things in order to get a "change" in the noise. Once you find something that makes the noise change, then figure out why.

Now, you're ticking could be an exhaust leak somewhere. Look for black soot around the exhaust pipe joints. I could also be rock hung in your drive belt. Roll the bike and look on the inside of the belt for a small rock or something hung in it.

I have 04 crf 250 going up hill dose not shift easly.going down hill shift all gears. pulling clutch all the way in bike still goes foward

It's a clutch issue. Verify that the cable is adjusted, and that you don't have too much free play in the clutch lever. Watch the engine end of the clutch cable to see that it has full motion. If this looks good your problem may be internal. You could disconnect the cable from the engine end and ride it to see if it changes for the better.

I cant't start my wave 125cc this light on the meter but once i hit the electric start button everything goes off and we i release the e start button everything go on again.

Your battery is most likely very flat, it has enough power to run your lights but not enought to turn over your engine to start it. Best thing to do is try to bump start it if the bike is a manual, put the bike into 2nd or third gear down a hill, get the bike rolling with the clutch in and let the clutch out when you get to good rolling speed. the bike will **** into life. Let the bike run for a good 20 mins. Battery should be recharged enough to start the bike again.
If the bike is an automatic you will have to use a battery charger.
