Yamaha wr426 2001 No 5 th gear fine in 1234 changed clutch , new kit . And 5 th gear slipping still?

I would revisit the clutch adjustment especially the clutch cable for smooth sliding and no kinks in the outer cable. gear 5 is normally an over drive gear which requires most power from the engine so a clutch not properly set will be tending to slip, as it will be heated and will be fading. I would look closely at the cable being hung up from the internal wire fraying and jamming on a bit.

If 4th gear is good, no slipping, then your transmisson is toast. Replace with a known good working one.

you may have a shaft key broken in the transmission. 4th is usually 1-1 drive and does not need the key. before removing the transmission, check to make sure the linkage is OK by shifting gears at the transmission. If you can get other gears at the transmission, then the problem is the shifter.

It sounds like the shift linkage is badly worn where the gear lever is supported on the shaft. Somtimes there is a plastic bush which ends up wearing out and disintegrating causing the slop you have described. You will need to remove the gear lever assembly from the vehicle to work on it. You should be able to get a replacement bush to repair it.

not unless fifth seases to the baring's. but then it won't even go in to 4th or 5th. it's probably your sincro's that r bad between 4th and 5th.

it sound like there is a problem with the synchronizers and or the gears them selves. either way you will need to have the trans rebuilt before you can not put it into any gear.
