Question about 2006 Harley Davidson FXDLI Dyna Low Rider

1 Answer

I have a 2006 FXDLI that I have a question on.

I am not getting near the mileage out of a tank of gas as I should. At best I'm getting 130 miles out of a tank. Could there be something seriously wrong?

Best as I can remember, the Low Rider comes with a 3 3/4 gallon fuel tank doesn't it? You should be getting between 45 - 50 mpg depending on your driving style. Since your bike if fuel injected, you'll need to take it to a dealer or an independent shop to get the problem analyzed.

Good Luck

If my fuel gage on my 2005 Chevy Aveo doesn't work, how do you fix it? This started @ 78,000 miles

If your mileage has dropped to half, I would be worried about what is wrong with the car. Chances are it is running very rich and using way more fuel than it should.

I have a 2006 Pontiac Montana. My gas guage is extremely unreliable. I run out of gas when the guage shows a quarter tank. And the digital readout for fuel range will say I have anywhere from 65 to 130...

I would guess you will have to replace the sending unit in the tank. A mechanic can check the sending unit with a meter and find out if the sending unit is faulty or the gauge on the dash.

After getting gasoline, it increases wrong mileage with camry 2003

One tank of gas is not enough to compare mileage. Or are you saying the computer's readout of mpg estimate is showing less? Try a tank or two of premium and see if that helps. Keep track of gas mileage. Driving techniques have a lot to do with gas mileage, as does long trips vs. short trips, highway cruising vs. city driving. For best mileage, do regular maintenance and keep the car in top running condition-good spark plugs and clean filters and clean oil ! Attend to minor problems before they escalate.
If you want to check actual miles per gallon, start with a full tank. Write the odometer reading down, and go. Everytime you put gas in, write down the amount. When you are close to 1,000 miles from the time you started, go fill the tank and include that amount of gas to your previous list. Now add up all the gas used and divide it into the miles to get miles per gallon. (976 miles/31.8 gallons = 30.69 mpg ) . Only one tank will skew your numbers, might be off cause the tank was filled more to the top than the previous fill-up. About a thousand miles of driving will give you a very accurate figure of miles per gallon for your car.

Change fuel filter in a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

prev.gif next.gif Fuel Filter The fuel filter is part of the fuel tank module. (in the fuel tank)

It's kind of difficult to drop a fuel tank and replace the fuel tank module due to the weight and danger of gasoline catching fire or exploding.

You should be getting between 45 and 50 miles per gallon of fuel. If not, on your fuel injected bike, you need to take it back to the dealer and have it checked out. You may have a bad sensor somewhere. They can check it for "codes" and see what the computer says. Regrettfully, the fuel injected bikes are not owner servicable. But that's the way of the future in all gasoline powered vehicles.

2008 RSTD. Supposedly 6gallon tank only gets 130 miles range. Dealer says its designed to only be able to use 4 gallons. What's up with that?

According to the Royal Star Spec Sheet,
It has 5.3 gallon tank and the "estimated" mileage is listed at 42 mpg. So let's be realistic and figure 35 mpg is more inline with reality... and if you're using 4 gallons it would be 135 miles , if you're using 5 it would be 175 miles. You'd want to have some reserve left so figure 4 gallons usable (before you need to fill it again). So the dealer's 4 gallon figure is in the ballpark. The 130 miles per tank, could be improved with how it's driven... but the mileage figures they publish.... I don't know of anyone who can achieve them... Hope this helps with your question. Have fun on that thing!
