You have a myriad of tubes and connections that may be trapping water flow.The vanes on the impeller inside water pump maybe corroded or worn down, resulting in poor water flow. Or the impeller shaft end is not housed properly or has snapped off, resulting in no water flow.

either your water pump has gone bad or your coolant system is clogged up somewhere making the coolant not circulate and overheat
