Question about 2001 Honda VT 1100 C Shadow Spirit

1 Answer

Seems like the battery doesn't have enough charge. I try to start using the choke and the lights dim and it start to roll over but nothing goes. It was started just this morning. It is cold out so I am letting the bike warm a little and I thought to try again. I thought maybe the battery lost its charge?

I have a 2009 Yamaha v-Star 250, the battery a new one and I drove it when I went to restart it nothing I roll started it. but my lights were dim . Won't start now. What is the issue?

Defective alternator. That is what keeps the battery fully charged. Once the bike is started, the alternator is what keeps the lights on and bright, not the battery. The battery is used just to start the bike only. Dim lights, means that only the battery is powering the lights.

Why won't my 1988 eldorado starter roll when I turn the ignition to start?

If the lights go dim, that means that your battery does not have enough power or you alternator is bad.

2004 mercury mountaineer will not roll over

have the head lights on and look at them while someone tries to start it...if they dim your battery is probably bad. If they don't dim you may have a bad solinoid on your starter.

My1997fordareostar van will make a clicking noise but i still have all power in battery what is the problem

A click every time you activate the starter motor generally tells us that the solenoid is working fine, but that the starter motor is faulty and requires repair/replacement.

To just double check:

Turn on the headlights when cranking.
If the lights dim significantly, then the battery doesn't have enough charge to power the starter, and the battery could require replacement.
If the lights don't dim by much, then the issue is most likely the starter motor.

Car wont start

Check the fuel. Don't rely on your gauge, and if in doubt add some fuel just to make sure there is enough to start the car. Try to start the car and if it still doesn't start you know that fuel isn't the problem.

Make sure your car is in Park and the emergency brake is set.

Look closely at your dash board when you attempt to start the car. If your lighted panels don't come on or are very dim then it is likely that you are dealing with a dead battery. Either use a battery tester or simply hook the battery up to a charger or use jumper cables to hook up to another car battery in order to charge the battery enough to start the car. After you charge the battery if your car still won't start you may be dealing with a bad starter.
Call a mechanic to find out if there are any other possibilities before you purchase and replace the starter.

I had the pacifica on ramps changed the oil now it wont start

Clean your battery terminals take them off and clean them. Turn on your headlights if you turn the key and nothing happens and the lights are bright hit the starter with a hammer try it a few times if it starts you have a bad armature in the starter. If nothing happens and the headlights go out or dim the battery has a bad connection or is bad. Check under the hood on the right above the battery the relays one is the starter relay switch it out with one of the extra ones in there. Put a volt meter on the battery just because you charged it doesn't mean it is 12.6 just sitting and not below 10 volts with key on

When trying to start the lights go dim but nothing happens. i can not get the gear into neutral

One press the clutch and keep on trying to get the gear into neutral.
Two, check your battery charge, sounds to me it is very weak / low in charge. You can have it on trickle charge overnight to fully charge your battery and try again afterward.
Good enough?

Had a power window wouldn't roll up pulled door panel and repaired, now car won't start, only clicks and dash lights dim. battery good

No reason not too start after that repair ...I would think having the door open the whole time fixing the window motor discharged the battery enough not to let it start .....If you only checked the battery with a volt meter and it read 12volts it could still be down on amps I would charge the battery or try jump starting the truck...Hope this helps you out
